A am a big fan of this game.
I think, that it is one of a kind.
I have never played a game like it!
And the Black&White 2 (releced on October 7th) will be one of the best games ever made!!!
I vant to know your opinion on this...

I don't think this really belongs in Classic Games... Black & White isn't very old, and the second one certainly isn't.

Moving this to PC Gaming...

Awesome game, really innovative, wouldn't call it a benchmark cos no one really copied it! But still one of a kind!
Be honest: Hands up who actually beat level 5 of the single player without cheating?

I don't know any cheats (I don't play ANY games with cheats) so i completed the game with no cheats. The 5-th level was difficult and that curce, when your creature begins to shrink is horrible!!!!
My creature is 69 years old and he is still short!!!
Did you know, that Black&White2 is OUT!!!
I have got my colectors edision of Black&White2
But it needs a video card, that supports a pixel shader 1.1

(or something like that.)
So I haven't played it yet, but i WILL.
And the recuaerments are huge:
minimum:
1.6 GHz
512 MB RAM
CD/DVD ROM
3.5 GB size on disk
64 MB video card, with pixel shader 1.1 support
Windows 2000/XP and others (I don't remember)
Well I think that's all, but I am not sure, if I remembered it all...

Black and White 1 and 2 are totally buggy.
Of course its one of the best games ever made.
If you bring up some nervs.

I know that B&W1 was fairly buggy, but none of the reviews I've read on number 2 say that it is.
I never got close to completing the first game, the quest with that damn annoying little monk that you had to follow round the mountain put me off after a couple thousands attempts. I'll get B&W2 simply because it is, as you say, completely unique. I think the reason no-one else has copied it is because it'd be such a huge undertaking, although stuff like the learning behaviour of the creature should be applied to other games.

Yeah you have a bunch of Arguments for the Game and I liked playing it,
until I almost destroyed my Keyboard cause of that f.... Monkey,a bug that has been fixed today I hope.
I read the Report on the PC Action, they say its one of the best Games and Game Ideas ever created. But at the very first start they couldnt even get in the Start screen, for over 30 Minutes, until it finally started.
And as I read it was one of the minor Bugs ingame.

I haven't experienced any major problems with B&W2. It all works fine, except for a few minor things. Like the positions of villagers/soldiers can change when you load a save game. Once I saved when an army was outside my walls, I loaded and they were inside. But they were squashed right up against them and it hasn't happened since.
They have released a patch that fixes a lot of the issues though. But if you don't download it before you start playing it's not worth it as it invalidates all 1.0 savegames.
The problem I'm having at the moment is it crashes every time I try to get to Land 7. But I think that's a hardware issue as I've had to revert to a lesser PC as of late due to my old case frying itself.
All in all it's a great game, and as far as I've seen it doesn't have many bugs.
I was never a particular fan of B&W. It intrigued me because it was something new and innovative and, as far as I know, the first engine to implement proper virtual physics. But yeah, so much of the gameplay was *far* too irritating. For once the sequel is a huge improvement IMO.

I dont want the Game,it costs a lot of nervs.
But like you sayed with upcoming Patches the Problem will be solved.
Im waiting for COD2 and Aftermath and most of all Oblivion.
I mean who needs B+W 1 or 2 if you can have HL2 or the Elder Scroll Series.

I think you can get a patch that allows you to skip the intro when you start the game, but yeah, that is well annoying!

"For once the sequel is a huge improvement IMO."
i think its not..in baw1 we had a CREATURE..and in this? a Droid with switches..brr..
physics are also gone through a devolution..not to mention another pack of minuses with gameplay..
the only improvement is really in render technology, and building nice citys are fun for some levels..but eh..maybe i wanted too much from that title but its not even close to the first version

The "creature" in B&W was more of an annoying uncontrollable useless lump who spent half his time pooing on villagers and knocking down houses as far as I remember. I much prefer the "droid", it's much more controllable than before. The physics seem the same as the first one as far as I can see.
I've just always wanted to be able to build unlimited custom huge cities since I first started playing RTSes. And this is exactly what B&W2 has delivered. So for me at least, it's a great game.

I'll admit it is a hell of a lot easier than the first, but I don't really think that's a bad thing.

in bw1 the only border to what you teach to your creature was your creativity..he was even able to link movements together..also it had a personality..that meant that no two creature(not even same type) was the same from the beginning..you could've tried beeting your good-by-nature beast to eat villagers but it resisted,cryed..did whatever not to do it..and then you had PUNISh your creature so much that you almost feel sorry for the poor thing:) not like that slipslap that has simple no other results than the move of a slider..
Its really not more now than a goodforeverything unit that you can control around...
about phisics: in baw1 when your creature clashed with another in the center of a town and one fell among the houses,it shattered the buildings into pieces just as you'd expect..but here? they just fell in the building without any collision..
those liitle things that made the first great are missing here..
but yes i admit city building is fun..till it gets boring

I thought that in the first game the creature training was a bugger to do well, pardon my French. I didn't like how easy it was to miss your creature doing something that you wanted it to do more, making it really hard for it pick up what you wanted to do. The list of actions that has been put in is a very good one IMO.
