While this won't affect the majority of people it's nice to have some conformity and update people on the going's on of Gaming Source.
Recently I've been trying to focus more on the network of hosted sites, especially in regards to the CMS software I coded -- the same software used to power TESSource.net. With this new direction in mind I decided to cease having Gaming Source as a general gaming hub (you know the sort; general gaming news, reviews, trailers etc) and focus it more towards the hosting that we provide, which is no doubt our most successful aspect. Monthly traffic continues to grow across the network and I'm receiving atleast 20 hosting applications daily, and the hosting section isn't even well advertised (and I don't pump it on the net at all, it's all through word of mouth).
I'm looking forward to seeing the response to making GamingSource.net the front for our hosting.
This isn't to say the months of work I did coding and designing the CMS for GamingSource.NET will be lost. It's all backed up to my hard-drive, and I'm hoping that my going to university at the end of September to do a 3 year Computer Science course will put me in contact with local, avid gamers willing to carry on the original Gaming Source "general gaming" hub. If there's one thing I've learnt about volunteers over the internet, it's that 90% of them are all talk and no work. They like the idea of getting free games and being a staff member of a successful site, but when you mention work, they seem to forget it quickly. Hopefully finding local help will mean I can kick the crap out of my staff if they don't keep their asses in check!
Check out the new site, have a play around with the different titles you can choose. Personally I prefer the Morrowind one the best, but others I've asked like the BF2 one. Which do you prefer?
