The regular course was Reeling and Writhing, of course, to begin with; and then the different branches of Arithmetic - Ambition, Distraction, Uglification, and Derision.
- Lewis Carroll
Seriously though, I'm not a student except in the most informal sense.

Wow a lot of people on these forums are in their Jumior year of High School.
Well look at it this way...
Two more years of school then College where you get to party a lot.
Thats what I'm talkin about.
BTW how many of you are planning to go to college.

Planning on it. Columbia or Stanford. Looking at a straight 4.0 in top-level classes so far, so hopefully I'll be able to get in.
Here's how I look at it - you work hard in school to get into a good college. Good colleges are alot of hard work. So you work hard to get a good job. Then you work hard at the good job for the rest of your life until you die.
Pessimistic, eh?

oh i am so jelous of your school system...
here we learn about everything..everything we cant use for anything..in the first 8 years..primary school
then comes 4 year when we again learn the good for nothing again in detail..secondary grammar school
then finally we can learn what we wanted to on the university and apart from that..learn about so much pointless things again..

I'm hoping to go to the US Air Force Academy. Its free and all you got to do is serve with the the military for 8 years with good pay and after that you get a nice fat pension if you retire.

Letsseee... I'm going into 10th grade, and will be taking...
Pre-Calculus -----This one should be interesting, i'll be in in a class with all the juniors...
German III -----This should be marginally interesting- my only problem with it is that I'll have the same teacher for four years in a row, ugh.
English 10 -----BOOOOOOOOOOORRRIINNNNGGGGGGG.... I bet I read more books than my teacher does, and even I find this irritating!
World Cultures/ American History----- World Cult. is interesting, american history is boring. Yuck.
Fine Arts II ----- This one will hopefully be good- last year, it sucked, even though I'm a year ahead of mots other ppl- there's a few that are bumped ahead with me.
Science ----- This one should be interesting, but I can't remember exactly what type of science we're taking.

What age group is American college for?
In the UK college is for 16+, and university is for 18+.
My year out is almost over and I'll be starting a 3 year Computer Science Bsc course at Exeter university at the end of September.

In the US you got to go through grade school. (Grades 1-12)
After that you can go to college. For most US colleges you must be 17+ to enter with the slight exception to baby genius's like my 10 year old cousin who already graduated grade school.
I hate it when he beats me in chess.

I use basically the same system as Slaiv as far as difficulty goes. Goin into 10th grade, in a public school system that thinks adding 15 minutes to a school day is going to acheive a higher level of education. Bs....
~German II (favorite class easy)
~Web Design I
~Algebra II Hon.
~English II Hon.
~Chemistry I Hon.
~AP European History
Failed the first AP test, hey it was my first one ever, but I got a C on the next one. Im claimin, at this rate, I'll get an A on the next one!
College? Phh! Come back in 2 years.

Anthropology, not Mythology. lol
And yes Weight Training, its fun.
Here in Canada grade school runs 1-8 (ages 5 to 13)
High School runs 9-12 (ages 13-18)
University and College are the same thing, but colleges tend to focus toward non-specialized jobs, and Universities toward highly specialized jobs.

Same in america, though the Cheltenham School District has it like k-4, 5+6, 7+8, 9-12. with four k-4 schools and one of everythign else.

In Australia, it's k-6, then 7-12, then whatever you want to do after that.... of course i think you're allowed to drop out of school when you turn 14 and 9 months or something.
I don't particularly like the school system in this country, because it tries to emphasise the need to go to a tertiary education to get a good job. Yes to get the REALLY good jobs you do, but Australia is in a skilled labour shortage, and i'd say that about 95% of students end up going to uni or tafe... The country is undercutting itself...
