EA Games have made an official announcement about the upcoming Battlefield 2 1.03 Patch. It won't be out until the end of August and will contain over 140 fixes to both the game engine and gameplay/balance issues/exploits.

Here are just a few of the fixes you can expect to see in the 1.03 patch:

Server and Client performance improvements.
Improved Server Browser – added Favorites and History Lists.
Point-farming prevention - game will stop Support/Medic/Engineer point farming exploits.
Squads - locked squad leader will get a message if someone wants to join.
Many HUD improvements - see the names of others in your vehicle, zoom level changing depending on vehicle, map zoom depending on map setup (16, 32 or 64 player map) etc.
Teamkilling changes – the logic of how teamkills are tracked will be changed.
Gameplay tweaks - the way transport helicopters work will be tweaked.
Additional scoring changes - players who destroy an enemy commander's assets will be given points.

Sounds good!

Lets see what they do with the team-killing system. Thats my biggest quarrel at the moment.

Agreed the TK system blows goats; I am sick of getting TK'd by Dark when he crashes the BH, I'd like to be able to punish him more for it - maybe have the option of perma-banning him from the server wink.gif

Maybe they'll make driving easier so people who don't know their left's from their right's will be able to do it...

ooooooooooo that would be good; maybe have an 'R' and 'L' on the respective gloves and boots so I know which is which.

"Engineer point farming exploits"
Would anyone actually bother doing that ? It takes forever just to get one repair point when the black hawk is taking massive damage hehe.
Zniky
Yeah hope they fix the teamkilling system.
*taps his foot while waiting for the temp kick/ban to go away*
Oh and they need to fix the damn missiles too , was shooting at the enemy chopper end up getting myself 6 tk's from a stray missile. and all punish ofc. angry.gif
Dark0ne
Well...that's just realistic TBH. If they dodge the heat-seekers then the missiles will go after the next heat-source they find. Normally a friendly chopper! Just unfortunate! wink.gif
Zniky
Should have had given me points anyhow! I mean I did kill 6 people with one shot, should get rewarded not punished even if they are my teamates ! laugh.gif

1.03 Update Progress
In this space about a month ago, EA and DICE listed many of the feature tweaks and updates that are pending for the 1.03 Update. In order to address the key issues as quickly as possible, we set an aggressive release date for the end of August. Unfortunately, as we approach the end of this month, it has become apparent that we will not meet this goal, and we wanted to keep you abreast of our progress. We are committed to making the 1.03 Update as comprehensive as possible, so while it is important to us to keep the release date, it is more important that we take the time to do this right. We will avoid committing to another date, but know that our goal is to get 1.03 out as quickly as possible. Keep fighting soldiers, the 1.03 Update is coming!

I'm happy to hear that spec ops will now actually get points for blowing the crap out of the enemy commanders radar etc. Otherwise it was a good waste of C4 that could be used for blowing up ACP's, tanks and me!
Cheers.

i kinda posted this already, in the Discussion -> PC Games page... but that was BEFORE i found this section of the forum, (where i will be spending an insane amount of time now...)

so i will repost it here now... If i'm not supposed to... Sorry, just delete the post in the other forum... embarassed.gif

At the beginning of October, EA and Dice will release a new Patch, this is not going to be the 1.03 patch, but the 1.1 Patch. This because they are adding extra features in stead of a few bugfixes.

a few fixes... adds

- Over 160 server- and clientside bugfixes
- A new ingame server browser with support fot "Favorites", "History" to provide better overview of played servers
- Squad leaders will recieve a message if someone wants to join theyr closed squad
- Special Ops will be rewarded points when blowing up Commander Assets
- Support, Medic en Engineer classes are limited in the number of support points they can recieve by using their special ability. They will be able to use their ability the entire game, but they wont recieve points anymore (anti point-farming)
- It will now be posible to see who else is with you in a vehicle, including what kit they use
- Map zoom will be adjusted to map size
- Teamkills will be registered i a different way. It won't happon again that you are shot down, crash on teammates and get punished for it
- The transport helicopter is going to be adjusted. The Black Hawk miniguns will be downgraded and further more it won't be possible to repair the BH from the inside
- The ticketratio of a ranked server will be dependent from the number of players instead of mapsize.
- Improved autoteambalance: commanders and squadleaders will not autochange anymore

Now all of these features are confirmed by DICE
There are some more rumored features but those are nog confirmed by DICE nor by EA, so i won't bother you with them.

NOOOOOOOOO - No more Blackhalk whoring (downgraded miniguns and no internal repairs will mean it will be much more difficult for multiple flag captures). Better get those points in before the patch.
