For many of the Middle Eath fans following the MEMod (including me) it was a big dissapointment when the mod shut down. I for example could no longer see myself walking around at the different locations of Middle Earth, like I did when the mod was being made. However, after some time, I began to notice another mod out there being made by some germans. It was called Adventure Middle Earth (AME).
In the beginning, I didnīt take that mod serious. The team did for example make "Wizards" a playable race. But after some time I began to notice differences. A lot of changes was being made, many of them to the benefit of Tolkienīs books. Some things might not be 100% correct when comparing to the books, but it was enough for me to stay tuned.
Two months ago, they took another important step (in the right direction). It was then decided that they would use the Oblivion engine instead of the Morrowind engine. In that way, they could prepare themself for another six months, organizing the mod and focus on things like 3D modelling, dialoge and quests instead of landscaping and scripting.
Today, I count AME as more or less equal to MEMod. Though I should quickly add that I did not have anything to do with the creation of MEMod so this is just what I feel. The AME team might not consist of famous artist (like Kahenraz whose site I first entered through the biggest 3D Studio Max forum in Sweden), but they are good, and it feels like they certainly have the spirit needed to make this mod a very good one.
When they announced that the mod was going to be made for Oblivion, they also announced a new home page, now avalible in English as well as German. They also got a forum for the english speakers.
You can find a lot more info about the mod on their home page: Click
And so it was said. I was quite unsure whether I should post this or not in this forum, but when I saw pharzonīs post, I decided to do it. I think it was fair to all the other Tolkien fans out there, informing them that there is another "MEMod" being worked on.
