I am having great difficulty in getting my controls assigned, neither the in-game options or the ini file are working for me. I cannot assign Ready, Use and Activate to joystick buttons, the panel will, at most, only accept two of these functions assigned to buttons. When I assign a 2nd or 3rd button, other button assignment will disappear. I've tried doing it in different order and can get two functions assigned but they disappear if I try to assign a third. I want buttons 1, 2 and 3 assign to Use, Ready AND Activate in whatever combination will work. Also, when I try to assign movement to axes, even in the ini file. Multiple movements get assigned to a single axis (Z-axis views left/right and moves forward/backward simultaneously for example) the in-game options will change the controls but not fix them. Again, I've tries many combinations and can't seem to get it right.

How do I assign these controls?
CODE
Jump                    =Joystick 0
Ready OR Use OR Activate=Joystick 1 *
Ready OR Use OR Activate=Joystick 2 *
Ready OR Use OR Activate=Joystick 3 *
Sneak                   =Joystick 4
(Unassigned)            =Joystick 5
Previous Weapon         =Joystick 6
Next Weapon             =Joystick 7
Menu                    =Joystick 8
POV                     =Joystick 9
Journal                 =Joystick 10
Rest                    =Joystick 11

Ready Magic             =Hat Up
(Unassigned)            =Hat Down
Previous Magic          =Hat Left
Next Magic              =Hat Right
View Left/Right         =X-Axis **
View Up/Down            =Y-Axis **
Move Strafe             =Z-Rotation **
Move Forward/Back       =Z-Axis **

*all three of these don't work together
**Don't work

Are there console commands, registry settings, ini settings that will work. Can I hex edit a file?

I never got mine working and personally, I think that Morrowind is better played with mouse and keyboard. But, I had set mine up, assigned all the buttons/joysticks/thumb pads and none of them worked.

I know this is an old thread, I personaly use a Belkin Nostromo Pad, Beautiful device, emulates a keyboard. You can assign keys to each button, i have my movement i.e. WASD on the D-pad on the side for my thumb. It takes a bit of getting used to but i the keyboard far more cumbersome.

If you are going to link to that crappy product at least link to the newest version.
