I'm having a problem finding out how to edit meshes. As you can see in my other topic, Duel Wielding, I need to find out how to edit a mesh so the sword alligns with the hand instead of being inside of the wrist. could anyone help me? does anyone know a program?

3d Studio Max versions 3, 4 or 5. Unfortunately, it isn't sold anymore (the latest is version 7, and the export plugin does not work), so unless you're really lucky and can find someone you can trust to sell you something so expensive/risky, you'd have to download it illegally. But don't even think of asking for details of how to do that here.
Once you get it, the change is simple. All you need to do is edit the weapon's pivot point so it lines up where you want it. For a one-handed weapon, the weapon is held directly on the pivot point. So changing its position/rotation relative to the weapon will make it appear differently ingame. A bit of trial and error should get it looking how you want.

Milkshape can do it too, you pretty much have to cuz the importer always changes the alignment anyway, trial and error untill it lines up right.
I'm tired of posting the links so just search the forum and don't ask me to post them again

i'm kinda cranky today.

You think that's Peregrine being cranky? I think that's the nicest I've ever seen him. Good thing you buttered him up by mentioning meshes.
