1) No, it doesn't exist. Or if it does, I've never heard of it. The official plugin is 3dsmax only, but there may be a very tiny chance that someone wrote a plugin for Maya and never announced it.
2) Of course I've heard of Maya. It's about equivalent to 3dsmax. Better for some things, worse for others.
