I bought the nighteye spell and something occured to me, why not enchant my shoes with permanent nighteye biggrin.gif , so being a mage i tried enchanting them shoes with the spell, when to my horror i realized that i couldn´t :o
Am i missing something here? <_<

first off, do you have a grand soul gem with a golden saint or ascended sleeper in it? that's the only way to get constant effect (permanent) anything.

once you have that, you can try and enchant something yourself, but your enchant skill pretty much has to be 100, and your intelligence at least 100 as well to have any chance. if not, you're probably gonna waste more gems than you have trying. you're better off just going to your local enchanter and paying to have it done.

So i gess i´ll have to wait a bit, i´m only level 2 mage and i only have 1200 gold sad.gif
Thanks anyway! smile.gif

Perma-enchanting stuff can be very expensive when you do it on good items, like about 50k gold for an object :o
Theta Orionis
What else are you going to do with your gold?

And make sure to bring some expensive loot with you when you have the enchantment made....so you can then sell it to the newly rich enchanter!

I've got an exquisite belt of constant effect night-eye...very nice for those dark corners of Morrowind.

Alternatively, just play around with your gamma correction
Shakkara
I myself put waterbreathing in the belt, that is something that always comes in handy.

constant effect regen magicka and health is always fun, so is fortifying your best stats. constant effect invis and levitate are my personal favs....death by air strike with a nice 50 pt fireball for 7 seconds for 50 ft....it's hard to beat that kinda knee slapping fun and hilarity as enemies scamble to find you.
Pob
I too like constant effect night eye or stat buffs . Also regen health/fatigue handy as are resits.

Night eye/resist paralysis are good because they are cheap (1 pt per point of spell) others are more expensive (stat buffs are 5 pts per pt for example). Cheap stuff is good for the stuff with low enchantment values or if you have gaps (like say helm of water breathing what else to add - how about night eye)
HornedReaperMJL
You can enchant items yourself without failing but it may be considered cheating <_< . I prefer night eye on an amulet since i always leave that slot free for switchable amulets they have a high enchantment rating and being able to switch them constantly to a levitate or a night eye one comes in handy.

By the way one time i made a amulet to unlock chests its stats were 100 magnitude on touch within 50 ft now i tried to use it and it ONLY unlocked the chest i pointed it at not all the chests within 50ft is this a bug or someones idea of a joke by adding a ft radius for the unlocking spell?

Either way i havent tried adding a ft radius to an unlocking amulet since also when you try to use the target for this spell it tends to NOT make full contact with the object your trying to unlock. But it does work well on doors since you can sit far away where noone can see you and fire an unlocking blast at it before you scramble away to hide even better.

Constant regen fatigue and healths items are the best well worth the money (if you pay to enchant them) biggrin.gif

Cheers for posting this HR good to know when something doesn't work like its supposed to. BTW what version have you got (it may have been fixed in the latest version, it may not)

Anyone got anymore stuff like this

if anybody wants a good constant effect item get a good quality ring and enchant ti with invisibility, night-eye,and resist disease. i found those spells helpful when trying to steal stuff in vampire teritories. ph34r.gif
HornedReaperMJL
Nope i had the latest patches and everything but still it produced that error must be something they never picked up or one of the game designers idea of a sick joke.

Actually you might be better off using amulets since they have the same enchantment value then you can just add them to quick weapon slots and you wont acidently unequip a ring that you use often (believe i've had that happen plenty of times then you forget to requip the items). Really instead of invisibility your better off with 100% chamleon since you dont get uncovered when you interact with something but that requires a spell or alot of items to do.
Draconium
why enchant when you can do alchemy?

make Restore Health for 2000 pts. for 20000 seconds out of marshmerrow and saltrice
HornedReaperMJL
I dont think i should signify an answer to that apart from THATS REALLY CHEATING. I'm gonna go scrap those nasty high potions that do 200hp for 500seconds because thats far into overpowered from now on. I'll only use high potions like that for magicka since that SHOULD be regenerating to begin with. But if you want to use SUPER OVERpowered potions go ahead i cant stop you but let me tell you the fun level drops fast when you cheat besides a potion that strong why dont you just use god mode?
DragoonFurey
2000 for 20000? just how many fortify intelligence potions did you drink? 100,000?

anyway, as for enchanting, some of the best enchantments for constant effect are;
Night Eye (for those creepy dwemer ruins)
Water Breathing
Water Walking
Levitate
Sanctuary (who needs armor)
Restore Health
Restore Fatigue
Resist Paralysis (damn DB assassins)
Fortify Attribute (150 str/int anyone?)
Chameleon (backstabing galore)

Some of my enchanted equipment;
Ring of the Wolf (Night Eye 25, Restore Health 2-3)
Ring of the Savior (Restore fatigue 2-3, Resist Paralysis 25)
Sneak Suit (Chameleon 35%) - Dark Brotherhood Armor

I´m gonna get me some pants of night eye! wink.gif

Not bad, but I went for Fortify luck. Couldn't resist having lucky pants.

I like resist paralysis as well, its very cheap (have a robe of 40% resist paralysis

For those constant effect items like regen health, magicka, and fatigue you're looking at about 120k for em and about the same for the constant effect stat boosters. (these are on exsquisite rings and ammys) though i must say having two rings and 1 ammy with constant effect willpower makes for some really nasty overpowered spells.

another good constant effect item to have is a permanent summon, like a clannfear or hunger...they might not be the most powerful, but you can fit them onto a ring and they are apt fighters and can really help when trying to cast a really potent touch spell.

Wait wait wait does Willpower effect the spell attack power? If it does i'm gonna have to change all my intelligence items over to willpower huh.gif .

Anyway if you want to do the cheap self enchant way you wont need to spend 120k on enchanting it just makes sense technically it would take you 8 days to amass 120k thats by visiting the creeper and the mudcrab which would get you 15k a day.

Chamleon items are nice but having over 50% really anoys me to death you constantly get the stupid NPC's giving you the Who's there? message so i tend to keep most of it off unless i really spot something i want to snatch infront of an NPC's face but then if i sneak i usually can get by em without even equiping the extra chamleon %.

As for Water breathing its techincally unessary if you have a health regeneration ring due to the fact you regenerate the health faster than you lose it really the only annoyance you will have is the screen flashing red.

By the way are Shield spells worth doing?

Good point about the water breathing hadn't thought about it like that. As for Sheild it is worth having. There are two items I have found with constant effect sheild on one is the ebony mail (50) and the other is wraithgaurd (10).

It has the effect of adding its value to ALL armour locations (ie: to your total armour). Rocks muchly, but very pricey

As far as I know you can't, you can only improve magicka by boosting your intellegiance or using fortify magicka (intel better as they are the same price).

Join the mages guild and get free restore magicka potions or make them yourself with alchemy

rolleyes.gif I use the following Constant Effects all the time as rings: Bound Armor and Bound Helm, Sword, and Bow. All others are Amulets: Levitate, Night Eye, Water Breathing.
Ashjam
I have an exquisite belt, with CE resist paralysis... very handy ! also have a ring of infravision (CE Nightvision to the max) but rarely use it... sometines to find items in a dungeon. other things: few percentages of sanctuary, and i found a necromancer's amulet somewhere... regenerates 1 hp/sec, among a few other thigs.
also made an amulet of "speed-up" (levitate + speed-increase) and an amulet of traveling (waterwalking + speedincrease)... not permanent, but very handy if you have to travel a lot....

and we all have to travel, dont we wink.gif ...

Now if I only found a way to remove those bound boots, helmet and bow from my inventory, because I made them before "the patch" and I cant drop them now ! sad.gif
