First off, this may be meant for Morrowind Lore, but it is about Solstheim, so I put it here.


Anyways, on Solstheim:

I have a question about it's history. When I started playing Bloodmoon, I got the feeling Fort Frostmoth was a new fort. Why was it built for such a small island? Who knows, thats a different question. Actually, this paragraph doesnt have to do with the rest of the post I think.

If you talk to the people at Thirsk, they say they have been receiving the 'finest skyrim wine' for generations, ever since they disconnected themselves from the Skaal.

The Skaal are very old. It seems that they have had little to no outside influence. They are very wrapped up in their own shamanistic religion, without paying attention to the very large and obvious encroachment of the Imperial Cult.

So, If the Thirsk people have had obvious influence from the outside, and there was a very intrusive for built on Solstheim, how could the Skaal remain so closed? Solstheim is not particularly large, and the comings and goings of people must have been quite easy to spot. Wouldn't the Skaal have reacted to the defilement of their lands, and wouldn't the Imperial Cult send out monks to recruit others? Or am I just stupid?

I think that the cities and land are smaller on the game than in "reality". I mean, Vvanderfell has a population of aprox. 4000-5000 people (after factoring in the children that don't appear) in-game. However because of its political clout in relation to the rest of morrowind, it probably has a much larger population. Another thing the game gets wrong, a large portion of Vvanderfell's population should be (assumption based on this being a weird cross between Medieval and Roman societies) farmers living in the Ascadian Isles, West Gash, and Grazelands regions. Instead you only see farms in the Ascadian Isles and most people live in cities.

Hehe yeah. Unfortunately you have to factor in practicalities before you stick to the lore... having a population of say 50,000 on Vvardenfell with farms left, right, and centre would require a small supercomputer in order to render the massive amount of objects required...

Besides, isn't the lack of population explained off by some sort of thing where the Dunmer only reproduce every 100 years or so and they're going through a sort of lull? I don't fully remember but I recall someone posting something like that a while back.

I agree though that there should be at least twice as many people as there are in Morrowind, I mean, if that world really existed the Dunmer would be considered as near extinction I would think. tongue.gif
