An update to MeMod.co.uk with released content !
And my local icehockey team managed to force a 7. quarterfinal-game !
Can't get better.
I am asking me why and how I got back to this forum just in time when an update is announced. fateful.

The delay is my bad. I've been working on a job application for the past couple of days and that took priority. I'll finish up the update asap.

That's OK, Kahenraz.

The MEMod is a dead project, it is admirable enough that you and Theta are still putting energy in it
at all. Waiting a few more days/weeks isn't going to kill anybody.

Actually, Theta asked me to do this six months ago, I believe. I completely forgot about it until recently.
School. *sigh*
I did quite a bit of work on it then, but scrapped it and redid all of the art and screens after I picked it up again. It looks a lot better now than what I had originally designed.

Not done yet. There is an art show where my work will be displayed in a couple weeks and my portfolio is always a priority. Good news is I have some cool stuff to show off. A new timelapse video! There are
two videos in my article not too dissimilar to this one. I've actually posted them elsewhere on the internet. Bonus points to he-who-finds-them first before I finish my article.
http://magesystems.com/magesystems/files/sgiant_sig.movWould you guys believe me if I told you that I knew absolutely nothing about polygon modeling before I joined MeMod? I was all NURBS.

Here are some of my Smaug shots waay back when MeMod was still mostly speculation within our niche in the Morrowind Chronicles forum.
http://magesystems.com/magesystems/files/body_rend1.jpghttp://magesystems.com/magesystems/files/body_mesh2.jpgAnd this one a bit later after my first crash course in 3dsmax 4.

The second smaug was great, but i like the first one..

And that little "movie" was cool too.

Painfully crude models compared to the canonical designs that were in the design process toward the end of the memod's life, though....

Dude, I made those models over three years ago. This was quite a while before Daerk had arrived on the scene.

Yes, and a mere shadow of my later work. I don't think anyone other than the founding members have seen these images. Consider it a history of MeMod.

"Would you guys believe me if I told you that I knew absolutely nothing about polygon modeling before I joined MeMod? "
heh, dont worry..before i joined i didnt even know how to check how many polys my models consists of
http://www.freewebs.com/attti/i just wonder how did i make it into the team with these samples?!
well by the time i definately got better, and learned some things too, thanks to Kahz:) (however i am still unable to model a character;P )
Kahenraz
Apr 23 2005, 03:00 PM
That timelapse should help you some. It's easier to model a full body character if you block out the proportions of the body. A trick to help you judge accurate proportions is to exaggerate all of the important areas first so it's easier to identify them, then smooth them out later.
Consult the video.

That blue dragon, btw, is 3500 polys. The guy in my timelapse is < 1500.

'Aight, here's the deal. I really don't see myself finishing this article any time soon. And it's not because it's going to be ten pages long, but rather because I dislike writing these kind of things.
My question to you is: would you all rather that I take my time and finish the article, or release the art I've prepared for it instead. It's been over six months since MeMod was cancelled and I would hate to leave it with another "wait and see" at such a late point. The art will be released in a nice structured form. The difference will be the lack of or limited text associated with the images.
This one is up to you guys. I promise that you won't be disappointed either way.
N_Ptolemy
May 5 2005, 10:54 PM
You could release the art at the state it is in now, and leave us waiting for the text in a second future release to better explain what were seeing. I think that may make everyone happy, i guess.
Midwinter
May 6 2005, 05:42 PM
If you don't mind releasing the files now, I'd rather see that. Don't get me wrong, I am willing to be patient and if you want to take your time that's okay, but I guess for some reason I still have this fear that if this becomes a 'long term project' (like the MEMod itself), it might truly be forgotten. That's nothing personal towards you, Kahenrahz -- I hope you don't take it that way, it's just a feeling I have with MEMod.
So, I agree with Ptolemy: let's release the files and perhaps you can finish the project when you feel like it. Then, somewhere in in the future, you could surprise us
again!

Kahz, is what your intending to release a little sneak peak at some "here be dragons" content? I wasn't entirely sure whether it was for your website or for the project.
Kahenraz
May 8 2005, 06:58 AM
This is for the release of a small part of MeMod. This is some of my work, as well as the concepts from Ahmet Bekil (Gogeka) that I based my art off of.

May 8 2005, 06:21 PM
I'd rather have the Text and Art, personally. But I'd be perfectly content with the images now, and the possibility of text later.

All content of Here Be Dragons will be released on our own website when we have progressed to the point where we go public, not before then.
there is a slim chance some of the flavour artwork might begin to filter out after May, however.

Here Be Dragons is not MeMod.
Here Be Dragons will publish its manifesto at it's own leisure.
Here Be Dragons will not be represented on the Morrowind Forums before or after launch, unless Dark0ne chooses to create a category for it.
Here Be Dragons website will be the sole official point of information source once we launch, unless otherwise stated on the Here Be Dragons website.
Here Be Dragons remains unspecified in subject, content, membership, and all assets until launch material is released.
Here Be Dragons staff, consultants, and associates will not be named unless they choose to do so themselves.
Here Be Dragons are not currently recruiting. Should recruitment be made, it will be through specialist press, not these fora.
Here Be Dragons will not be drawn on speculation to release unscheduled announcements.
