NES was way better than SNES. Firstly because it was the bulk of what nintindo would become.

Second, it had better games. (pac man, dig dug, infact i have almost all of the NES games on my computer for emulator.) No one can beat the classics!

I just say one... eh... three... words:
Long live "Star-Tropics"

Interesting opinion. I belive you are wrong though. Games such as pac man and dig dug were good, but not great. There was absolutely no point in them. The SNES had many MANY more high quality games than the NES such has Chrono Trigger, FF III, and Secret of Mana. Not to mention all three of these games actually had a story.

Ah ha!!! But from where did FFI and II come? NES! The better of the two because they gave birth to better games and consols.
Indoril Nerevar
I tried playing Star Tropic not too long ago. It was pretty cool.

Sorry Malchik, I just now saw the edit button for the first time thanks to you.

Have a good day Malchik!

Isn't the SNES compatible with NES cartridges? If so, it is the better of the two!
Indoril Nerevar
How is that possible? Can you really do that without the help of other hardware? shocked.gif

Too bad I dont really consider the FF games great until the third game.
Indoril Nerevar
how convienient
CLB1110
Not just convenient but true. I only really ever enjoyed the storyline in FF III and though I have played the first two I just think III is much better. Im not saying the the first two were terrible games, I enjoyed them but they didnt have that special something that FF III seemed to have.
Indoril Nerevar
Ah. But without the first two to introduce FF the company would not make any more because they needed to se how popular it was. so they made improvments. And it has built up to whast it is today.
CLB1110
Yes but just because that is where is started doesnt make it the best.

Beats the crap out my previous statement. i guess I like NES because it was the first system controller i pcked up. i first played Tetris and i did not like it. But now i'm a tetris freeak!
CLB1110
Im the same way. The SNES was the first console I played on so it is my favorite, and it has my favorite game on it.

BTW, FF1+2 were NOT for the NES originally. They were for Famicom

FF1+2 with jury-rigged converter.

I have to disagree with NES beating SNES... lets start with the name... NES = Nintendo Entertainment System
SNES = SUPER Nintendo Entertainment System... Super means better...its like saying man is better than Superman, you just can't tongue.gif
Supernintendo had all of the best RPG's, and I don't think any game could ever beat a good ol' classic SNES rpg... well except for Oblivion!

It's hard to choose between the NES and the SNES... but if I had to, I would pick the NES. I just have many fond memories of it when I was young. Especially with Megaman 2.

SNES, all the way. As someone said earlier - Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana made this one of the best consoles created. The NES is like an equivalent of the Master System for me - ugly graphics, less innovative game design and generally not as fun.

As for the subtopic about FFIII, I agree that FFIII was a HUGE improvement over I and II - it finally seemed to evolve inot something recognisable as FF. I've not played IV, V or VI though... O.o
