Apparently without my knowledge at some point in Tribunal, I joined the Imperial Legion (maybe I was drafted) .
I am now at Fort Frostmoth with the smart but weak companion (sorry I'm bad with names) but Zeno Whats-iz-face (the armorer guy) won't talk to me.
Hhe just keeps giving me the "Your out of uniform, talk to me when your serious," line.
I've tried getting expelled from the Imperial legion, but I get the same answer.
I tried raising his disposition but that didn't work either.
Is there some sort of workaround (i.e. cheat) that will make this shmuck talk to me about the frickin' cave I already know I have to go to?

simple workaround. Wear a suit of imperial armour. talk to him. drop suit of armour beside him. put on your own armour. do quest, come back, put on imperial armour to talk to him...
or go find the Lord's Mail, and wear that all the time instead.

Well said but instead of doing all that dropping and picking up stuff there is a mod that gives a imperial legion badge i think its at tessource but i'm not sure. it is at morrowind summit though.

ya morrowind summit has it
there is a mod that gives a imperial legion badge placed in gnisis you will have to talk to general darius but you must read the note on the door befor you go in other wise you will not get the bage in you list of descushions
i dont get it i was in full daedric when i talked to him he never complained
