Full Version: After Tamriel...

What do you think Bethesda will do after the continent of Tamriel. Think... years away, what will happen. (realizing how long it takes to make these games, i doubt i'd be interested when/if these come out sad.gif )

I think they're going to use the continent about the Ghost(?)Ocean or w/e. I forgot it's name, but it started with an A. I forgot where but i heard about it in i think the landscapes of morrowind and it meantioned some gigantic sea and a continent in the north. Wonder if that place is like morrowind, like the empire is there but not in control, or something like that

Edit: But, i doubt it would be called "TES" cuz issnt that about what happened in Tamriel?

Edit: I also want them to make an MMORPG soon. It would be tight!

by the time that happens it will be like elder scrolls 9 or something which is insane. Once they stop making games for each province of tamriel they will probably stop.
Cheesemonger
And yet, number nine would probably require sometihng along the lines of a super computer to run, which will be sweet.

Back on topic, They probably will stop after tamriel, though you never know. They would have to think of sometihng else to make, and it may be Continent X, or possibly World X. Nobody knows.....
Peregrine
It's not going to be an issue. Creating the entire continent at Morrowind's level of quality is so far in the future we can't even begin to guess about it. The game world that has been described is just that massive. There's a lifetime of games and stories in that world, more potential than we'll ever see used. Even if every area of terrain is covered, there's still past/future events to use for games.

And who knows, by the time they run out of content, games might be so advanced we wouldn't even recognize them.
the_ragnarok702
i predict that once they finish each province they will make one big game of all tamriel with insane graphics, physics, and depth. It would be sort of like an uber tamriel rebuilt. A game that would have over 1000 hours of addicting and insanely good gameplay.
Cheesemonger
Or they could be lazy, and just make some time traveling stints. Go back to the tamriel, or go to it in the future. They may even make a RTS type game where you have to settle a province.

Chances are, by the time that happens, very doubtful it is going to happen, we will have uber computers, or somesuch, through which the game will be much like morrowind on our computers, in regards to graphics. Also, it may become more, and more, mainstream. I expect it to be almost as mainstream as Final Fantasy X, or at least by the time it reaches that point.

Besides, thnk about how long it would take to make Tamriel, with very good graphics. I am pretty sure the majority of us will be dead by the time it happens.

I think this...

... is far more likely to happen than this...

I'd say by 2020 or some such they will be able to make what i said. Just imagine the technology then. I suppose maybe not with graphics up to date then but surely with ones better than that of Oblivion. Gamemakers do need to focus more on gameplay than graphics or else Betheseda will end up like square soft (I WILL NEVER GIVE INTO ENIX!) *shudders*. And we can't let that happen. Elderscrolls is our last resort! Mainstream has already eaten up Zelda, and Final Fantasy and MANY more.

Just because a game is mainstream doesn't make it horrible, and just because a game is unknown doesn't make it great. I do have to agree with you on game developers needing to focus more on gameplay than graphics in the near future, although personally, I also stand with Bioware in thinking that the story of a game is also a very important aspect to success.

And given that it takes aproximately three to four years to completely finish each Elder Scrolls game, we can estimate that Oblivion will come out in 2006. That would make it so that the final Elder Scrolls province would come out in 2221 at the earlest, and by then, I would pray Bethesda has gained enough inspiration to create a new game universe.

Anyone ever heard of "Tamriel Rebuilt"? The guys try to rebuilt the whole of Tamriel based on the Morrowind Engine. Link:

So far they almost completed the whole province of Morrowind and while then move on to Skyrim. Do you think that they have any chance at all to complete their work?
ensis
Even though they're getting faster, completing all of Tamriel as of now would take them around 10 years or so. The main goal of the mod is to try to complete as much as possible yes, but also to gain experience with modding a game engine. I should start chipping in more. blink.gif

well did u notice how i said "uber tamriel rebuilt" in one of my previous posts?! dry.gif Yes of course i know about tamriel rebuilt heck its as if i worship that project. i'd say that unless they only do All of Morrowind and Skyrim and maybe black marsh (but then again that wouldnt be TAMRIEL rebuilt) they will probably just die or give up like alot of TC projects.Either that or they will say they are 95% done when a year later they are not done *Cough* Wizard's Island *Cough*. BY the time there done with a forth the project everyone will have abandoned morrowind and gone to play Oblivions L33tness.
Cheesemonger
Bah, pester them. That is the only way to get them to keep on going. Besides, what says that once Oblivion coems out, morrowind will be destroyed by legions of fans everywhere? If anything, it will just slow down morrowind mods, a lot. But they will still be made. If it is a fun game now, which it is, what will make it decrease in fun by the time of Oblivion? Don't peopel still paly Daggerfall? I believe hat it will come out.

What would be very cool, but really unlikely, and possibly retarded would be an elderscrolls FPS. Use crossbows to take out Dagoth Ur, or those Cliff Racers. Funny, but not serious, or at least I hope not. An Rts game is much more viable before all the rest of Tamriel is made. Didn't someoen say that Oblivion would be the lasti n the elderscroll series?

Not yet, although they do plan on releasing within the next three days. Hopefully...

Just because a company says it's going to stop making games doesn't mean it's guaranteed to stop. Look at Square Enix. Supposedly, Final Fantasy 1 was supposed to be their last game. huh.gif
Adras
lol, I've been in contact with the WI project leader, and they were planning to have it done by September, soI dont think it'll be released in the next 3 days...

the guys making that mod are great people its just that it sorta makes my head explode when like in February 04 it said 95% percent done and now ur telling me it will be done in Sept 05. But i guess we all we just have to sit...... and wait.

To dagger of symachus about ff: they should have stopped after 9.
valdir
Um... Fallout?

That seems to be the next obvious franchise Bethesda will produce more games for.

Also, an Elder Scrolls RTS sounds really cool, as long as it doesn't turn out like Lords of Everquest. smile.gif
the_ragnarok702
If it was made into an rts that would completely defy Beth's goal in making TES. It has been said OVER and OVER by Beth people. There goal is to make that best and most open ended single player RPGs. I see no chance of them makingan RTS.
Dark0ne
How about an open-ended RTS?
TSBasilisk
Future games may move on to Akavir, perhaps the oddest part of the world currently known of.
