Full Version: Release MEMod Meshes?

Why don't you release all the meshes and textures for people to use in there own mods? There is nothing illegal about using a "Gonder" Tower for an Imperial Keep, or a "moria" for a dragon lair.... Maybe even a Balrog for a demonic evil? I say this: RELEASE THE MESHES AND TEXTURES! (Kinda like Treebeard: RELEASE THE DAM! Lol). Please, please, consider this! I think everybody would love to make a hobbit house for themselves, or a castle to house the Knights Templer, maybe even a few dungeons made out of the Barrow Houses... SO, PLEASE RELEASE THEM! There have been a few TC's that died, but, because they released meshes and textures, they still live on! Maybe not complete, but they are still alive in some sense! So please. Release the meshes and textures!

we are using most of the memod meshes in Project Phoenix...
those memod meshes that PP is not using were not permitted for us to use by their devs...so if they wasnt permitted for the new project you can guess about your chances of getting them:)

Also, remember that all those meshes are still owned by their creators. The decision to release anything would have to be made by that person and only that person.

There will NOT be any complete release of MEMod work. Individual members might release things, but don't expect it.

*sigh*

well, with probably something close on 75-80% of the models from MeMod being on my computer, I think I can actually speak for the project as a whole.

those peices produced by the team are their property. Atti's work, for instance, or others, and I am lead to beleive from their comments that their contributions to MeMod will be withheld for use in Pheonix.

Otherwise, almost all of my personal content will be released over the coming months.
the peices I will not be releasing will be those which can be of value for other commercial projects - but that will generally be very little material, given the lack of such content as specular, bumpmapping, normal mapping, LOD and other considerations in the MW Meshes, all of which future projects do or are likely to contain...
Players should be able to expect the gondorian, rhovanion, and common weaponary sets to be released as MW nif files over the coming time, along with architectural work for Esgaroth, Fornost Erain, the watchtowers of Arnor, the Barrow-Downs and *possibly* the elven grey havens if I texture them.

Some of these peices the Pheonix project will likely be given first offer on use of, but I expect that their fantasy-based design ethos will mean that the design content will not be suitable for their project, as their design concept develops over coming months. even the peices already released should be a clear indication of the very different style compared to MeMod's vision.

However, in conjunction with Theta, (who can do more with dialogue than I could in a decade, yet alone all the other skills...) I'm currently working on a mod which will contain a good proportion of the MeMod meshes for architecture, equipment, "stuff" etc. the models will later be released as a seperate pack for use in any other game mods.

Possibly, future mods will release more of the content in a similar fashion, before a release of "model packs" for use.

However, it will not be an immediate job. I want to take my time, not be hassled over it, and ensure I'm happy with the content before release. nothing worse than finding a faulty texture too late.

Ok... So if I read that correctly, the models you made you WILL release. And, maybe if the other team members want to, they will release the own work as well? Hmmm... Ok, thats fine with me. I just really want to make MY mod, but it requires very "flexible" meshes. And, I am sure OTHER people want to make their own mods, but don't have meshes. Well, thanks!

Any models released by any of the team or Suzerain will not be allowed alterations without those individuals permissions. If that is what you meant by "flexible", Dvd2005…

Also, demanding us to release work is not a very good way of going about things. It has been stated before that we would possibly release models via MW plug-in in the future, demanding us to do so like you have any say on the matter is an insult; and I take it as such.

My question is - will the mesh packs/plugins, etc... require Tribunal and/or Bloodmoon? I never picked up the GOTY edition, especially after the MEMod was halted.

I'm assuming that's not the Iredior Conspiracy?

Your assumption is correct - it has nothing to do with Iredior. tongue.gif

Thats not what I meant by "flexible". I meant you can use it in many ways. For instance, Bethesda's walls had one use, as walls. Or did they? They could be used MANY ways. AKA, flexible. That is what I meant by "flexible".

Memod's meshes are only limited by your creativity to use them in interesting and different context to that planned for 'em.

Simple as that.
