So today I had a wild hair and decided that I wanted to play some Morrowind, seeing as my current computer isn't good enough to play Oblivion.
The game installed fine. And I go to launch the game and it refuses to start saying that I have the wrong desktop resolution and that I need to change it to 32-bit (True Color).
So I go to do this because I want to play me some Morrowind, dammit. Then I come to discover that the highest I can set my resolution to is 24-bit.
What should I do in this situation? Am I unable to play the game on this computer?

This is probably a function of your graphics card. Try installing the latest patch for it and see if that will allow 32bit.

I don't have a graphics card. This old machine only has the stock MoBo components, with just the bare minimum of RAM and HDD space.
I checked and it's good enough to run Morrowind. I was just going to play Morrowind on this computer for a week while I wait for my server to arrive. And that thing should be able to handle any game I throw at it. It should make most computers look like a calculator watch by comparison.
Oh well, I guess I can wait four days for the server and then just fall off the face of the planet for a couple of weeks over dosing on Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and WoW.

Doesn't the
Morrowind Graphics Extender allow the game to be played in 16bit? I might be wrong of course.

Doesn't really matter now that I have my new computer up and running. My concern now is trying to figure out how to mount Morrowind to a virtual drive.

Morrowind doesnt like built in graphics chips. They may be powerful enough to run it in theory, but they're not designed to, and usually miss out some important peice of functionality or whatever.
As for mounting it to a virtual drive, simply rip the cd to a .iso file (I'm not sure which programs exactly do this, try Deamon tools or Alcohol120%), then use a program to mount it - both the programs I just mentioned do that, although I personally prefer VirtualCD myself.
Normally after this, you would need to install a nocd crack, but for some reason Morrowind doesnt need that - just make sure the iso is mounted when you launch the game.
