New version, new features, new look and new organised system. Thats what's happened today in the latest forum update.

Wow, looks nice. Although I kinda liked the old look more. What are those new features?

I think it's ugly as sin, the older skin was much easier on the eyes and flowed better schematically. There are some contrasts (points to clickable smilies on side bar) that are distracting and don't give the site its same solid feel as it did before.

Though I'm glad to see the RPG thing under my avatar gone, that was very much pointless.

New features? Where are they?

New look: Ugh, change it back. The new forum skin is terrible. At least add the old skin as an option.

New bugs: pinned threads need to appear at the top of the list. Total attachment limit is unuseably small. 250k for all attachments for a user doesn't even cover a single .jpg image. "From" needs to be changed to "Location" so my description makes sense!

And agreed on the removal of that stupid RPG thing. Thank dog it's finally gone.

This old skin was just so much darker than this one, which was pretty relaxing. This one looks agressive and is much harder to look at.

I agree with most of the others. I liked the old skin a whole lot better. It was more relaxing and it was Morrowind Source. Everytime I clicked on my Opera icon and my home page poooped up, I always thought "Good 'ol MWSource..." When I saw this new skin I thought "Holy Geeze... I hope this isnt the new skin." Sorry Darky =o( But I say change it back...

*EDIT* After posting this, a few things came to mind. I dont like the 'Edit', 'Report' and 'Quote' buttons at the bottom. Thats just annoying. Heck! I almost went nuts trying to figure out why I could only Quote and Report my own post, then I relized it was Xeniorn's... Well... Ok... Maybe it was just one thing that came to mind... I did kind of like the RPG thing, because I got very familiar with it, but it is nicer gone. One more thing... I liked how the forums were set up before. i dont like them all minimized lie they are... If you put a lot of hard work into it, I'm really sorry to be critisizing it!

Seriously though, I miss the old skin. Even more, I miss the fact that in the old version you needed 1024x768 resolution in order to see the forums. It was because of that little detail that I finally changed my screen resolution from nice and big 800x600 to teeny-tiny 1024x768.

I seriously suggest you get something that doesn't contrast as bad as black on white for the letters and background, so it is easier on the eyes. This isn't a problem on books, but books tend to be black on off-white, and they don't emit light.

I do love the new layout, it's easier to navigate. Also the roleplaying thing will not be missed by me. At least that eyesore is gone, unfortunately the new skin presenst another, as already mentioned.


EDIT: Huh!? Something just changed. Now it's no longer black on white, yay!

as for the new skin: it looks like it belongs on a sci-fi forum not one that deals with fantasy. And comeing from a sc-fi nut I have to say that I liked the old skin better. as to the lod rpg ranking system I never really looked at it so I for one won't miss it.

Im sorry Dark0ne, I can't say that I like this new skin, but I think it is a question of time, I didn't like the old skin in the beginning either.

It do not look like a Morrowind skin, but It isn't so bad like everyone else think.

I don't know how much time you spend in the creation of this skin, so I do not wish to just say "Damn! So f*ing uggly!!!", because it isn't. I wish to say, that it looks nice, and thank you for the time you laid down in this. But, *puts sunglasses on * it is a little to bright for me...

And to everyone else:
It don't cost anything to say somthing nice to people...

I won't say that, but I can say:

This skin isn't even nearly as good as the old one was.

I preferred the darker colour. As another poster said it looked more solid and stable.

But it's your site, so you call the shots.

It is his site and he can do what he wants with it but ...HE DID ASK what we think about it. After all, would he ask us if he din't care what we think? Maybe we can persuade him to at least change this pukey baby blue color!? But even if he din'nt it woul'nt be a reason to leave the site ,at least for me, or even consider it....! that would be totaly irrelevant and not to say plain stupid! 'scuse my english but yeah...that's the way it is!

Surely nobody in their right mind leaves a forum because they don't like the colour? And if this colour was so objectionable Morrowind Summit would have no members.

So I feel some of the replies have been a bit extreme!

Human nature craves the comfort of continuity. If we'd joined the forum when it was this colour and then it was darkened, we'd probably all complain just as much. And, apart from the fact that it looks a bit second hand, it's not sooo bad.

I mean we could have got purple on black or pink on orange...

Certainly MUCH harder on the eyes than the old version, as people have said.

However, it's still not a bad design. Quite what the point was in doing it escapes me, though

Actually yer right. I mean,when your glass seems to be allways half full instead of half emptyit is not soooo bad(if you like baby blue). Pink i. e. would be the pure horror! but orange would go fine with my red hair.....! or black even...!
To admit, I have loged on a few times today and this awful blue seems a bit tamed. It does remind me of Morrowindfiles.com so

Well, my opinion about new MWSource is not so bad anymore. Member map is one cool feature. Although I think everyone would agree (well, almost everyone) that the color should be darker. I don't mind the skin, only the color. Especially the Clickable Smilies white area. It's painful to look at.

Yes, Morrowind Summit has a odd colored skin, but it does have quite a bit of black and dark colors in it. As of now I like MWSummit a lot better (colour wise only) just because I am a big fan of dark colors. I never visited there a lot so when they changed it around, it was no big deal, but I've been coming here nearly every day, and even numerous times a day, for the past... about 6 or 7 months. Yea, I joined over a year ago, but lets not go there Anyways, i feel you made a very bad decision, Dark, but if you just get a darker colored skin, I think it would make more people much happier. Black and dark blue or green is a good choice for me at least

Just not the whites (quote box, smiley box etc.). I actually like the buttons, though they are rather simple. Some of the features, especially the minimize category one are very cool.

I also think the old skin was far better than this one. I understand many people could like this one more than the other, but I would like at least to have the option to choose among at least those two.

And about the new features... wait for me to discover them

I'm actually quite partial to the Lo-Fi version.....over this anyway.

I applaud how much easier adding stuff like color, font and size to our posts is. What I proviced above is a good example of that. I didn't have to type in one BB Code (that's what its called, isn't it?).

Aside from that... the My Controls is much more... um, cluttered?

Anyway, someone design a coolish new forum theme. That'd be cool.

I just think the forums look too futuristic for a Medieval-like setting. At least make the colours a darker grey, etc... The same colours as the old forums, I mean. That would make it bearable.

YEs... I think it's becoming quite clear that DarkOne flogged (I mean obtained...yes...i did) this skin from a skin site. Because it is quite clear that when you look at a certain forum i.e. Gen. Morrowind, when you go down to the bottom of the page or look to the left of a post, we see a quaver, pair of quaver or a muted sound icon (for those of you who don't know I'm talking about the strange music notations, which determine new posts hot posts and the like).

I'm not sure how many people would agree, but morrowind wasn't the best game for music... about 6 or something tracks of music?

Music isn't it's forte... but Sea of Destiny adds some pretty good songs.
