Hi I'm new to the forum so hello to all.
This is really primarily intended for the HL2 and STALKER modders though it applies to anyone.
Having been a pen and paper role player for the last 25 years it has often struck me the potential that Middle Earth has for modders. The problem seems to me to be the sheer enormity of the task, at least if one wishes to live up to Tolkien's legacy.
I've not really looked through these boards so I apologise in advance if I am ressurrecting old discourse or presume an ignorance.
Basically, is anybody aware of the work done by Iron Crown Enterprises for the Middle Earth Roleplaying game (MERP)? They covered a VAST amount of Middle Earth (esp north western ME). Rather than rely too heavily on the films or completely reinvent the wheel, may I suggest that additionally this resource would prove invaluable both in terms of inspiration and in time saving. Indeed under Tolkien Enterprises' license they proposed their view of the whole of Middle Earth. The continent was on a large scale completely mapped and continues to be by, notably, a Yahoo group.
I would be willing to electronically mail some of this PDF material and/ or at least provide further relevant links. I don't have the time to commit in any other way to a mod project but I do share a similar desire to Middle Earth modders.
Cheers,
Carl
