i have heard it for the first time. my explaination is that it is either a sound that the towers holding up ghost gate make or it is the sound of sound creatures on the other side of ghostgate.

Yeah i heard that as well i thought it was a sheep but i kept saying to myself there are no sheep in morrowind so i thought it was a guar.

It's a regional sound unconnected to any particular animal. Sorry to disappoint, but there's no explanation given for the sheep sounds. They exist only as an in-joke for the Bethesda people.

But as the thread above proves out, the discussion of them has led to some good laughs.

That's a fun thread to re-read. It's pretty interesting, because some of those posts are from people who are now mods, while some of the others have become basically nonexistent. Baphomet and Stampede used to kinda be the kings of the place, while Marxist was the respected scholar. Now, they don't even post here anymore.
