okay, since the topic was mentioned in here comes the bride and I have seen the mod for morrowind, I did a search and have made a post requesting/asking if Land ownership will be implemented.

We are a commoner, not a god-like hero (ahmen), but what better way to be a commoner to be a farmer, I would love to own a plantation and have the ability to manage and expand it. I know it would be a lot of work but it has been done, also considering the salinity of water scripts I wonder if there could be nutrients in the soil scripting? Combine that with Daerks build your house where you want to scripts (if they exist, or if that project exists anymore for ME MOD you could save up your money throughtout the game and build a plantation, buying slaves to work in it.

here is an imagined scenerio to finish my "pitch" lol.

I have saved my earnings for many years as a servant on master Ferman's plantation, and I beleive I am ready to leave him, and buy my own land, having servants of my own.
The location I have picked is up north, on aa tributary of the Anduin, The soil there is rich with deposits from the river, but the flooding isn't bad, and i shouldn't have a problem.

The construction is under way and the men I have hired are top line, to save a little bit of money I am doing much of the work myself... The plantaion so far consists of my home, a watch tower, and a small trading post. I have plans for a low perimeter fence, nothing fancy, but I don't want wolves getting in here and killing chickens, like they do at my old masters farm.

The plantion was completed some time ago, I have been living confortably in my new home and my servants and slaves are doing a wonderful job, all of them have there homes on site. Unfortunatley no real road leads back to the populated areas of gondor, but I have made the trip succesfully several times. The people of Osgiliath and Minas Tirith pay well for my goods, and I am m aking an excellent living, the plantation has nearly paid for itself already, and my servants are quite happy with there pay as well. Two of them are on leave now, visiting with there families in Minas Tirith.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know, its all dreaming, much of that is impossible, but I am fairly sure the important stuff is as I have read it to be features in the Plantation mod for morrowind. So Wookie, Suz, what do you mthink of my sales pitch?
UberBender
This is a great idea! It would be extra fun if you would collect money every now and then as profit from the farm.

*Hopes this is implemented*
MDRud216
well yah, the whole point of the plantation is profit, when you take your "steerable vehicle" to town loaded with the goods, you can sell them to individual npc's or maybe have a little stand at a bizzare or sell them to a vender for him to sell. but you would have to make enough to pay your servants, or you could have slaves that you didn't pay etc...
BaDoMeN
I wanna own isengard laugh.gif!
Sorry guys I think this is a little to hard to balance, your meant to be the average joe, not be able to go galavanting around buying big pieces of land, you can as far as I know purchase places to stay.
MDRud216
a commoner... remember, you have to start out as a commoner, and you cannot become a godlike hero that kills demons and gods... knwo somewhere between those would be master of a plantation.

And let me assure you, every single plantation or farm owner isn't documented by Tolkien, in fact the only one i know of is farmer Maggot.
Diabolic_Wizard
it is a lovely idea i think. if the balance problems solved, it will be a great option in memod i hope.

Is this what you are looking for?
Diabolic_Wizard
well yes... i liked this mod and i want something like in MeMod.
Slaiv
Meh. It's alot to worry about, though.
Tor_Anders
Hey! If they get to be farmers I want to be an innkeeper! Or maybe a bling-bling pimp, with my own custom made and stylized pimp-wagon! wink.gif

Nah, seriously, though, I think this farming-stuff sounds interesting... I haven't bothered to try the farming-mod yet, but a farming option in MEMod is absolutely something to think about. But be careful with those slaves... I think most civilized areas of Middle Earth is against slavery, so you might get a bunch of angry hobbits with hay-forks and torches after you! blink.gif
ImmortalSnafu
Hobbits are quite dangerous when angered...wink.gif.
MDRud216
...as witnessed in The Scoring of the Shire
fingalfin
It also might by a nice twist to preform a none combat landowner to restock at and a place to kick back and build your strength. Whether a farmer as suggested or an inkeeper, a restrant owner or a shopkeeper. As another course ofpursuit (I realize you are a normal commoner, but after building a HUGE reputation) perhaps you could become a baron or duke of sorts with a keep and the works. If buildings are done it could be entertaining to have barbarians rsid your stucture. In my opinion slaves would be a no anywhere near the civilized world. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Keep up the good work MEMOD team!
Rynos
uh.... we'll see...

*confused at what he meant*
fingalfin
Darn, this post didn't show up until I posted the one under it! Please destroy this post Mods.
fingalfin
OOOPPPS! Okay, heres what I meant:

I support the farming plantaion idea and other possible carreer tracks(innkeeper,etc.).

As a challenge to players who have done almost everything, after having a HUGE rep and many difficult quest accomplished, They could become something like an earl or duke of Gondor or other country. After having settled they occasionally attacked by large numbers of barbarians to truly test their skill.

I don't think slavery would fare well with the civilized peoples of middle earth.

sorry about that. Keep up the secrecy and the good work!
Rynos
Im not too sure the whole earl of Gondor thing would work out. And you didnt just get attack sometimes... It would have to be during a war like for raids. Also why should the King of Gondor trust you enough to give you some of his kingdom to manage?
Tor_Anders

Er... Rynos, did you just reveal timeline-info? Is there not the possibility that there might be only a steward of Gondor and not a king? hmm... wink.gif
Cailwyn
I think Rynos was speaking hypothetically

peace
fingalfin
It was kind of just a rough idea. I meant enphisis on tons of reputaion and quests for the king for trust but I meant a huge amount.
Rynos

*smacks Tor_Anders*

F00!

It is not timeline info... ......

.......

.....

I think Cailwyn got it.

Plus if you look at all the actual info we released it will tell you a lot about the timeline if you are learned in Middle Earth history.

Urg... er... I'm sorry, Rynos... Forgive my insolence... arg... wacko.gif

*Bursts out in tears*
fingalfin
Okay, it appears that no one understands my request yet. It also appears it's my fualt for never paying attention in English. Oh well, perhaps someone can decifer it for everyone else.
Maquissar
Lol... you must be careful Rynos... every word you say is recorded and thoroughly analyzed by hordes of Tolkienite fans who are eagerly waiting for the timeline to be revealed... for example... why did you put all those ...........s in your post? It must be some sort of secret code shiftyph34r.gif
Illuvarin
I don't think it's wise to say that you know when memod is taking place... At least not when Rynos is still around tongue.gif.
I suggest you don't start your car for the next 2-3 weeks shiftyph34r.gif .
