I have been playing just mw without expansions for a week or so. I just got Tribunal and Bloodmoon but haven't installed either.
I am hesitating because someone told me that doing so would change the game (where I've been so far and where I am now), for example, assassins will try to kill me in my sleep. In MW, sleep is a pretty safe place.
ARe there other such "surprises"?
Is the addition of Tribunal seamless, otherwise?

There is an edit facility that lets you edit your post rather than post twice in quick succession.
If you haven't reposted elsewhere I'll answer anyway as you admitted the slip was unintentional. You must instal Tribunal before Bloodmoon to prevent running problems. There are no other 'surprises' than the one you mentioned. People attack you in your sleep anyway in MW after you reach a certain point in the main quest. With Trib you can get the attacks stopped after the first if you choose. However you might like to kill the assassins and sell their armour. It's a quick way of getting reasonable resources without cheating.
