Need help with map problem on XboX Map wont work

I play Morrowind on the Xbox and I really need some help here.
when I go to the maps in the game the map that shows the whole world works fine but the one that shows where I am at at the time is black-nothing but the arrow that shows where I am. Even the square in the upper left side of the game screen that is supposed to show my surroundings is black.

If anyone knows how to fix this or if there is a way to turn it off and on it would be a great help to me.
