I had to kill her, she lied to me. Silver acts as though I am on a quest.

So I'm fresh outta the vault and sneaking around trying not to run into any thing hostile till I make it to Megaton. I'm scrounging up stuff in abandoned houses I come across Silver's place. She thinks Moriarty sent me but I haven't been to Megaton yet. That kinda erks me that her dialog played out as if i had accepted the quest to get 100 caps from her. I got over that quickly though and just played along.

I suggested she tell me her side of the story and some how she convinced me she was the victim here, so I let her go at no charge. I was then snooping around her place and wouldn't you know it, drugs everywhere, she lied to me so I killed her and raided her place. All that bad karma took me from good to neutral. Shame though she was pretty good looking but a liar, a junkie and a tramp. she's dead and I got all her stuff.

Such are the ways of the wasteland.

Bethesda seems to be pretty good at working consequences and nagging doubts into being a little goody two-shoes. I got a prominent character killed by turning in a bad guy, then found out I'd inadvertently orphaned a kid. Naturally, I caused the culprit to expire, but that didn't bring daddy back to life (got me some pretty good guns, though).

Maybe FO3 is already in the shelves here, I ought to pay the shopping a visit. Meanwhile yes, FO series bring a much more realistic sense of evilness or goodness, well afar from simple black/white choices. Sometimes those that thinks they are being evil for meaningless killing anything that cross their path may turn up the local saint. Worse, that boring goodshoes may turn out the most malevolent guy on the block...

As worm82075 says: Such are the ways of the wasteland... Inexorable, with it's own rules. Ethics are attached first on surviving; second, at that rules. Often these two conflicts. Morals... I'll bypass this one.

Well, *I* just bludgeoned her to death with a baseball bat because she refused to get out of my face. She is a really bad shot by the way.

I guess like everything else, it depends on what you've done before you meet her. She told me rather straight-forward, "I'm going to get so high I forget my name." Can't really get mad at water for being wet: can't get mad at a crackhead for getting high.

Look at the pipboy, click the STATS button on the bottom left, then on the far right click GENERAL.

I lso played out both chapters (Sliver and Burke's request), trying to maintain a balanced character. I also declined the "offer" from Burke, and informed the law. Wow. What a result, I did not see the consequences coming for supposedly doing the right thing. Pretty cool.

I did have an immediate "reckoning" with Mr. Burke. Felt pretty good until I ran across the orphan as well.

As far as Silver, she is still shooting up in the ranch house. I wouldn't waste a bullet or swing of the sledgehammer on her--she is in her own Hell.

As far as Karma, right after you commit a "bad act", you will also get a message that flashes in the upper left corner, in addition to your status in the Pipboy.

I became aware of the "Bad Karma Flash message" immediately after I had a fundamental "disagreement" with both the ideologies and methodologies of Dr. Lesko. I pulled the plug and terminated his research program* (*pictorial posted in images).

So far FallOut 3 has more than surpassed my expections--the story line and subsequent consequences to choices you make, so far has rocked.

I wish you could do more with Silver. If she's an (ex?) hooker, why can't you sleep with her for caps?

And yes, it annoyed me on my first playthrough that I walked in there looking for a place to sleep, and she started telling me about some quest she thought I was on, even though I'd never even seen Megaton at that point! :(
