My game just started crashing whenever I tried to load up my Space Age savegame. Anybody have any idea why?

Which patch are you using?
Irregardless, it's probably the patch. With each patch comes new causes for crashes. The standard version, oddly enough, seems to have the least problems with crashing, but the tradeoff is that several other things are broken instead.
You'll probably get more help about your specific problem on the EA forums. Or at the very least, the company of several thousand other players who can't play their game.

The crash on take off is believed to be the eye candy you see appearing in cities, deleting all eye candy before leaving the planet is said to fix it.
But the home planet is the one effected for me and that cannot be captured so just avoid going there and you will avoid that particular crash.

Dont Bother downloading patch 3 unless you have a very good computer (even then your game still might crash), patch 3 has been causing many issues for users like myself. It is only a game killer and i have been trying everything to get my spore functional again.
