I am starting this thread to hopefully build a nice list of Mod Hosting Sites, File Mirror locations and Image hosting locations for modders on a shoe-string budget. This list will also have a little bit of info about each one.

Please feel free to let me know about other places and I will update this list. Once the list is fairly stable, I will place this list on a wiki site to be maintained and accessible to the entire community.

Anywhere with the word "unknown" means I do not know the answer. Help with this info would be great.

FYI - As I've been adding and updating this list, I have noticed a ton of "Requires Free Registration" so I'm going to list this as an understood assumption for everything unless otherwise noted to keep the text to a minimum rather than turning into clutter.

Galahaut, thanks for the heads up. I've edited this article as well as the identical thread at the ESF.

I also took notice to StrategyInformer and asked them to correct the problem I saw with their upload of Lost Paladins of the Divines. If StrategyInformer does the right thing, they might even be added to this list. Well, even if they don't, I think they will make it on this list...kinda like how Obliviet did.

Rather than erasing links to Obliviet to ignore them, I'd prefer keeping their name around to reduce the ignorance of not knowing about them. If a site deserves to be shunned, the entire community needs to know why rather than creating a new generation of people that have no clue as to what happened (and possibly even recommending them as if they were newly found)

I registered and tried to upload a small mod and here is what the upload screen looks like:

I was not able to figure out what the site did not like about this upload and kept receiving a generic error message: "ERROR: File Not Uploaded." I suspect it is a site issue that must be resolved with the admins first (folder permissions maybe?).

I also noticed that there are less than 10 registered users and a single file in the Oblivion section. The tutorial section has many categories but there are no tutorials posted.

This seems to be a VERY new site on the scene so I'll let it stabilize and mature a bit before adding it to the list.

It should also be noted that any site that allows uploads as direct .exe files should be extremely careful due their ease of infection by viruses. Just have people archive the .exe into one of the many archive file types when uploading to get around that issue. This would also allow them the opportunity to include a readme file inside the archive that gives the HASH / MD5 value of the .exe file so we can determine if it is the original and unmodified version or if it has been tampered with.

I'm not sure why .7z is not among the allowed archive types since it is a heavily used archive type in Oblivion modding.
