Sorry if this is a known bug, I tried to find other posts about it but didn't, so maybe I'm just lucky to have it ;)

I just started playing a week or so ago and after saving up a lot of money (sold one of those White Woe swords to Creeper) I'm trying to enchant some items. First on my list-- a levitation belt.

Except.. the levitation never wears off!!! I set it to magnitude 10 - 10, duration 6, self. Once activated it just doesnt stop, ever. I can sleep in a bed for days and I'm still levitating. Then I tried using the spell (I had never actually used it before). Bingo, same effect. Permanent.

I know people like to create permanent levitation items, but I sorta figure you like taking them off after awhile as well  anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

I have Morrowind with Tribunal (no bloodmoon), version 1.3.1029. Any help greatly appreciated!!

I'm not sure if this is a bug. Did you accidently use a constant effect soul gem (ascended sleeper or golden saint) when you enchanted it?

Anyway, the easiest way to fix this is to take off the belt and equip it only when you need it. :D

I hope this helps...

hey, thanks for replying, but thats not actually the problem...

its NOT constant effect.. I used a 300gp petty soul gem for it, I think with a skeleton warrior or something in it. And I can take the belt off and I'm still levitating. Forever.

Same thing with the spell. I cast it once, doesn't matter what the duration or magnitude are. Suddenly I'm levitating, and levitating, and levitating .... never stops. Have to go back to a saved game each time. I'd really like to fix this so i can actually use levitate normally :(

any more advice? i'll try anything, particularly if it doesn't involve reinstalling (which I'm afraid I might have to do)

What happens when you try to rest in the open? Do you get the error message that you can only rest on solid ground? If you don't there is definitely a problem as the game is not recognising that you are levitating. It sounds as if you may need to reinstall.

try casting dispell on yourself, should remove any positive status effects like reflect, waterwalk, levitate, sanctuary, ect.

If I try to rest in the open, I get the "can't rest if not on solid ground" message, yes... :( I have't tried dispell, I will try that next but I'm afraid it might be what Malchik says -- the game isn't even recognizing that I am levitating. Should there be a status box in the lower right hand corner when I levitate? I don't have one.

Yes, there should be a black upward pointing arrow on a purple background. You probably need to reinstall but I believe you can keep your saved games while you are doing it. So it may not mean starting again.
