Here's the problem:
Whenever I go into Ebonheart, it either takes forever to load (5 minutes and up - and that's after the "loading area" bar has filled up) or it just freezes after the bar is full.
When it does load, I get a whoppin' 5 frames per second, no matter the view settings: Be it 100 distance units or triple the normal distance, I still get 5 fps.
What puzzles me is the fact that I have been playing morrowind flawlessly for quite a while now, I haven't added any plugins in a long time and the only thing I recall doing before this problem is defragmenting my drive.
So I'm left wondering why it crashes now when it hasn't crashed since I fired up morrowind for the first time.
I've done a lot of searching to find out, and somebody in another thread said that after a long time playing a lot of scripts are opened and that eats up CPU resources. I'd be willing to bet this is the problem, since starting a new game seems to fix the problem... However, that brings up another problem; how in the heck am I supposed to get my game back?
Before you ask, I have all the latest gfx/mobo drivers and I've already tried disabling all the plugins I'm running.
The results: With no plugins loaded, everything works like it did yesterday (perrrrrfectly
However, it only happens with my saved game. When I start a new game, everything is fine regardless of plugins.
Cliffnotes for the lazy:
- I've been playing for months now with lotsa plugins, and just today Ebonheart freezes while loading.
- When I start a new game (with all of my plugins still loaded) everything works fine.
- When I disable all my plugins, everything works again.
- I think it may have to do with too many scripts running.
Help would be appreciated.
