One of the best things about being a lazy university student is the spare time I have to devote to TESSource and Gaming Source in general. One of the best things about working on websites is there's always something to do (hang on ... is that a good thing?). What I'm really saying is that TESSource is never complete and there's always something I can be doing that improves the site or adds new functionality.

Take for example the recent changes I've made to the network as a whole:
  • Whole new Member Portal for user registrations / management
  • Kudos system added for better member recognition
  • Image Share section allows members to share pictures with others
  • Multiple file uploads enabled
  • Top 150 mod listing based on Bayesian estimate
  • Many less noticeable changes: addition of BBCode system, alteration of file comments to look more like the forum, changes to the caching of the site reducing server slow-downs and increasing page regeneration times, categories listed on the Today's Activity page for each file, changes to the way ratings are displayed on files among others ...

It seems like I've done a lot, but there's a hell-of-a-lot of others things I want to be doing too. So much so that, more than likely if/once I ever get them done I'll probably be revisiting the changes listed above and re-doing them!

My focus at the moment is really on updating the code behind the site and producing an "ultimate fansite" system that I can use in the future to generate new Source sites for games. Hopefully with some help from others, which might involve sharing profits. Oh I know it's a long way away yet, but I look forward to the day that I can find some people who are as interested, and dare I say "skilled" (*head explodes*), as I am in running a great fansite and want to do it for a living. Until that day I'll just carry on doing what I enjoy; and that's coding systems that I want to code! It's great being your own boss!

I wish you the very best in your career, and hope that (eventually...) this'll turn into the ultimate fansite! Just make sure you make it through the university... One way or another :P

And we all can't wait until (thanks to all the new features) the plugin manager will surpass your and Switch's post count in no time at all!
I guess the day that happens is the day posts in the uploaded files and images section don't count towards your postcount anymore...

I realy like what you've done so far, but, like you said, it can always be improved. One thing in particular. There seems to be no way to edit a comment on an uploaded mod/file. This annoys me as no one is perfect (although I am quite close :P); so, sometimes I make a mistake on a comment but have to double post to correct it... I would like to see this changed. As for the image share, it's a great idea, but when i tried uploading my screen shot, I got a message saying it was the wrong file type  . I'm wondering because it was the same as when I initally took it (bitmap image). Could you please tell me what I need to do? Other than those two things, I think everything else is as good as it can get (so far).

@ Povuholo: I hope file uploads don't stop counting  ! 35% of my post count is from uploaded files. Maybe Dark0ne can create a second plugin manager. He could also make the plugin manager not show up in the meber roster (somehow  ) so that he...she...it? won't show up as the top poster. Or, he could just accept the fact that the plugin manager will always have more post count than him...

Edit (see everyone makes mistakes!): I forgot to mention, if this is in the wrong place, I appologize. It just seemed...appropriate.

Only gif and jpg files accepted. Definately not bitmap files. If you've changed the filename to gif or jpg you need to make sure you've actually converted the image into that format i.e. you're not just changing the filename ext -- the system isn't stupid!

Thanks for clearing that up :P . I appreciate it!

Edit: I also forgot to say that while I wouldn't go so far as to say this is the perfect fanbase, it is deffinately one of, if not the, best out there.

Edit Edit:

And we all can't wait until (thanks to all the new features) the plugin manager will surpass your and Switch's post count in no time at all!

By my count, about 33 days.

About 33 days from now:

Dark0ne: about 6835 posts
Switch: about 6827 posts
Plugin Manager: about 6854 posts

Now let's go to 100 days from now shall we? :P

Dark0ne: about 7170 posts
Switch: about 7162 posts
Plugin Manager: about 8462 posts

356 days (next year today):

Dark0ne: about 8540 posts
Switch: about 8532 posts
Plugin Manager: about 14606 posts

ninja_lord666: about 3902053 posts...just kidding :P

I have really enjoyed the improvements and changes that you have made over the years. It keeps getting more convenient to use.

Will it be possible to do a search on modder's names (which are not always the uploader's names, BTW)? Sometimes I can't remember the name of a file and the bits of the name I put in don't always bring up the mod, but I remember who wrote it. I know once I have a mod page open, I can click on the modder and get his or her list.

Thank you again and again, Dark0ne and the team for all your hard work.

Hi Tamara,

It should be possible to search by Author Name, but it will be completely dependent on the author people specify in the file information, and if they enter no author it obviously won't work.

Great Work man. I appreciate your hard work and devotion to the maint. of the site. Best Elder Scrolls site on the web, hands down. I too work in CIS, so I know the level of skill and dedication it takes to run a network like yours. You guys are awesome, love ya, will stay a subscriber till you shut down the servers!

Regarding the Top 150 listing: I've always found I can find the most popular mods better by sorting by downloads, not votes. =/
