Adding NPC's to a mod. How do you make a mod using NPC's?

How do you make a mod where you add NPC's. I made one that will add Hlaalu Guards to the Rethan Manor Stronghold, but when I went to install it, the guards didn't show. :(

I did the Drag and drop on the map where I wanted them.

Ok, need a bit more here... did you install it correctly? Are other things in the mod showing up, just not the npcs? Are they all placed correctly (not inside walls, 100 miles up, etc)?

Install mod of whole Morrowind program?

I checked the mod in the data files section like I'm supposed to.

I never made mods before. I have modified Creeper so he has 200,000 gold, bukt that's easy, right?

Open your mod and check to see that your NPCs have been placed on the ground. It's pretty easy to think they're on the ground when they are actually in the stratosphere. One way to check is to click on the NPC, (this should give his location in the 3-d coordinates - this should help if you know how to use them), and click view then isometric. This will allow you to look around the NPC to make sure that he is on the right floor and not in the basement or on the roof.

After dragging your NPC into the render window press F to make them fall into the world - this will drop your NPC to the surface below it.

If you placed your NPC too high initially it may end up on the roof, if too low it may fall through the floor. Dropping objects outside walls or even into walls is a favourite trick of the CS.

Open your mod in the editor, and check in the cell window whether your NPCs are listed as objects for the cell. Then double-click on each NPC to zoom in - that way you can check that they are positioned correctly.
