Login Method Changed
The login method for the forums has now changed. You now login via your email address and password, rather than your username and password. This is to help those people who forget their username AND password so they can retrieve their information via their email address.

But it doesn't help us who want to log in fast on public computers... I prefered the old way with user names.

I do not want people to be able to see my email address popping up if they write a "G" as the begining of their own email while they attempt to log in to this site on the same computer as I used. (This is a problem with Internet Explorer if you do not have permission to change the use of cookies etc.)

And besides; writing the whole e-mail address takes much more time than writing the username.

Edit:
The problem with Explorer remembering the emailaddress doesn't seem to be a problem on all computers... But maybe the cookie-settings was different on the other one I tried to log in to, it may be that way, don't know for sure, didn't have permission to check.

While, I can see the logic behind changing, I'm sure some people have way too many email accounts to recall which they used to sign up here as well. I host my own email server, and ran through quite a few trying to figure out which I used before realizing I'd used my hotmail account to sign up here. :P Is there any way for someone who doesn't recall the account he/she used to get it? (For those regulars who use their name, but can't recall the email they used?) If not, might I suggest having an alternative access page using the old method? And for those, who like Gabbe, use a public access terminal that has been (poorly) configured to save data in the browser.

Yes, an alternative acces page, which can be set to "show as default".

It's not possible with the system, it's "either/or", and since there are a lot of people on TESSource especially who registered years ago coming back for mods but not knowing their username, the email option is the logical choice.

Your problem is that you can't remember your email address which, in my opinion, is daft.
