Will you mod your Oblivion before completing the main quest?

Yes, got to mod mod mod!

No, I want an unaltered experience to begin with

I might add a few tweak/convenience mods to begin with

I would have to go with no. I always love to mess with the vanilla game before I even think about adding mods or modding myself. I figure it should keep me in a gaming trance for the first 2-3 months or so, then once I snap out of it I'll probably start to mod. :P

This time I'm going to try and fly solo... no huge mod projects. Though someone will probably sucker me into something. ^^;

I am already designing something but it will assuredly be put on hold when the game comes out until I have played it at least once. If the game is as good as MW it will keep me fully engrossed for a while. It is also (supposedly) coming out in late March when I will be heavily involved in directing a play. Between the two I don't see much time for modding straight away.

I first want to try every feature (A LOT) before i will go mod with them. I gotta know what things do in game before i start to mod with it. And i just want to see Oblivion, the one thing Bethesda refuses to talk about.

I'll go for a "yes".

My first character won't be doing the main quest, but my second will. Add to this the fact that I am already profficient with TESCS...

I don't usually do much modding --- mostly I just use the CS for tweaking other peoples mods or trying to work out how to do something I can't figure out in-game. So probably the answer is no...
Especially since I already have two non-oblivion related projects (one using UT2004 and another just my own source).
Bug fixes/atmospheric mods I may use, but probably not before finishing the main quest, unless there's some annoying bugs..

Note: when it says "mod your Oblivion" it means "add mods to your Oblivion", not "will you make your own mods for Oblivion" -- that was the last poll!

Ah - I misunderstood. I thought you wanted to know how itchy fingered we would be with the construction set as soon as we had the chance.

As to whether I will add another's mods early on, I don't know. If I find annoying bugs and glitches and someone mods a fix then I probably will add them. Otherwise I hope to be sufficiently immersed not to feel the need for extras at first.

Later I am sure I shall be pleased to add to the realism with some mods and expand the quest playing time with others but only if the game is as good as (or better than) Morrowind. Former Ultima fans, of which I was one, know that sequels are not always improvements. The Oblivion hype is fine; let us hope it is the reality.

The disadvantage of making mods before doing the MQ (or just before you haved played Oblivion for a while) is that you get to see secret items, locations, dialogue, quests, scripts... All these things that you still have to discover! It's no fun finding out about this very cool dungeon in the CS instead of while playing.

I can never keep my fingers of quests... So i won't open the CS before i've played Oblivion to hell. I mean.. to Oblivion.

But, to the original poll: There probably won't be many (good) mods out before i have finished the MQ, since everyone is going to play the game first. But who knows... maybe if it would be a bugfixing mod..

Well, in that case...

It really depends. I can't imagine myself Downloading any mods before completing the MQ, since I doubt there'll be any decent ones out by then.

However, unlike Morrowind, Oblivion has had a huge amount of pre-release mod preparation going on. I'm confident that a lot of modders will be making and completing mods quite soon after release. Whether I will download any of them is another matter though.

Well, if someone makes a makes a really nice sword or armour mod then I won't be able to resist! It's also great that these kinds of mods don't usually affect much in a game (being mostly an appearance thing). Other mods, like ones that add quests, only come much later when I'm bored with nothing else to do.
