It seems Waterstones, the famous book sellers, might have dropped the ball on the Elder Scrolls V. In a blurb for the new Elder Scrolls book by Greg Keyes, The Elder Scrolls: Infernal City, the page editor put up this interesting tidbit:

Quote

A novel that takes places forty-five years after the Oblivion Crisis, which is the story of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion game and the expansion pack Shivering Isles. It partly bridges the gap for the next game, which is set 200 years after the Oblivion crisis.

It has since been quickly edited out.

Perhaps not the official announcement we're all hoping for but still, it's an unofficial something. Not that we can be worried that there won't be another Elder Scrolls game, just worried about when.

It showed up briefly in Amazon as well. They too pulled it out.

Amazon link(dead now)
Google cache still has it though, for now.

Interesting note:
Looking at the Google cache date, it seems that the leak was out as early as October 14.

Sounds interesting, but if it's set 200 years after the Oblivion crisis, doesn't that mean that it will be set in an industrial era?

Maybe more of a colonial era before an industrial era, sorta like fable II(which is something I loved about that game) would be next but then again it could be about the fallout (pardon the pun) from the oblivion crisis and the empire's weakened state.

Gotta love it when retailers drop this kind of stuff lol

@Babelfish: Well, not really... The Elder Scrolls is set in a world not like ours, and the passing of time wouldn't mean the same as in our world. It could go thousands of years, and they'd still be at the same stage. You just can't compare it to out world. So, again, no...

But then again, I would say the Dwemer are kind of Industrial. :)

i hope they dont make it that far ahead, thats the reason fable 2 died so badly pretty much, adn if they do make it that far ahead where citys become more medievel like and such then every game beound that point would be the exact same way

Well it depends. Bear in mind that the Lord of the Rings trilogy are set 3000 years after Sauron was defeated. Things might progress slower than in real life (reading the in game literature I think it does).

@Wasder; Lord of the Rings was exactly the thing I was thinking of actually. And as you said, reading in game literature helps to understand this evolving progress. I would also recommend reading the Elder Scrolls Stories in general, as they are really unique and great! And they also help you understand the ES world. :D (And of course, read The Lord of the Rings!! ;) )

Well, at least, let's hope that Tamriel's civilizations have learned to make use of the wheel after 200 years! :whistling:

200 years later huh? I wonder... I believe they wont go to Industrial era or anything. They (unlike we) have "magic" so I guess they would go further into that of course catapults and other siege machinery atleast would be nice. Ignoring the fact that in Oblivion after Morrowind magic disevolved (if you ask me).
