Using The "console" On A Pc? how do you use the "console" on a PC

I've seen many posts on adding items and changing character abilities using the "console" --how is this done specifically?.... I'd like to know..other forums list things to type in --but not how to access the "console" command.

Or ~ depending on your keyboard. Basically the key to the left of the "1" key. Welcome to the forums, by the way. ^^

Question answered. But was it really necessary to make an entire thread concerning this? I'm sure it's listed on a lot of sites that list the cheats. Oh well. :P
