Heya, I have recently noticed that there is a forum cencorship here that forbids people to say things like "*censored*, poo, piss, angel" and so on, and I am just wondering why anyone in their right minds would put that up here, is it so hard to understand that it's not the words that counts, but the message. I mean, people who gets offended by swearing will have to deal with it, because vulgarity is part of the real world, it's part of humanity, and it's not right to remove something so simplistic and basic as the freedom of speech, because a sequence of letters cannot hurt anyone, and it's just a subjective thing to consider, so it's basicly like different music flavours and such. So if you're gonna ban something as simplistic as certain words, then you might aswell take all kinds of cultural difference and substance with you, because nothing is more important than the freedom of expression!
...I really hope a moderator reads this, because it's about *ban* time that we loose these rediculous and patronizing, anti-liberal bullshit!
Forum Cencorship, are we really that fragile? I'm kinda sick of how it pretty much sufficates liberty...

Profanity filters are in place because it degenerates general conversation. That is my opinion. Fact is if a user feels the need to use swear words on the site then they probably aren't going to be welcome here. I have no problem using swear words in general conversations with my friends, especially after a few drinks; I'm no prude, but when it comes to writing on forums and commenting on sites it becomes utterly unnecessary.
That is my opinion. This site is run on my grounds. That is how it is.

I mean, I personally don't swear much, but I won't abuse others rights for it just because a bunch of tight-asses wants to be pretentious...

as dark mentioned, we all agreed upon signing up for this page not to swear the crap out of each other cause we dont want flame wars and plain vulgarity, ist a gaming site and its full of kids, kids often dont know when to use these words with care, mainly on the internet, the result would be insulted members who didnt get the joke or whatever the author intended to say and thus would leave the site... (just one example)
you for example put a bunch of insults in your two posts yet without actually using swear words, now imagine how many people would be pissed off if you used castro for example in conjunction with F words and so on... it wouldnt end pretty at all...
also there is no equal in this world... there are always those that have the power to kick your ass, and even in the great land of the free and home of the brave (may i laugh?) there are laws which prevent you from swearing the poo out of your teacher, boss, superior, neighbour, etc... just try to say terrorist were right to bomb the crap out of new york... i sincerely guess that would be the end of your freedom in that free place for example so dont assume this site offers you more rights... there are other pages especially designed for your swearing habitz.

You sir are highly delusional and somewhat silly to think that freedom means absolute freedom to do anything you want.
Let's address each of your grips:

You should NEVER post when highly emotional and upset. Regret is almost always the case (forced or otherwise)

People wanting to swear should actually have to deal with their promise to NOT swear when they signed up for an account on this site. Just because it exists in the "real" world does not mean we as a society should accept and embrace it. I certainly do not allow my children to swear, fight or kill other people just because it is part of the "real" world. I hold myself and those around me to a higher standard. You should to. The world is what WE make of it. Are you making it better or are you content to swim in the sewers?

But even in America, you are not allowed to stand anywhere you want with a megaphone to make that speech. You sure can't stand in my living room and exercise your right to free speech. Feel free to do so on the roadside where I cannot hear you though.
Again, your "rights" even in America cannot be exercised if they are stepping on the rights of others. So basically, this forum is Dark0ne's house which is based in the UK. If you want a platform on the Internet to exercise your free speech, you need to build and maintain your own site or leech of somebody else that will let you.

I almost don't even want to respond to this one because it is so clearly wrong that it doesn't need to be mentioned but somehow I am guessing I need to give you an example. Have you ever known anyone with severe depression? Do you think that somebody on the verge of killing themselves might be pushed over the edge with a few hateful words? To a smart individual, words are more powerful than any sword s/he could ever wield.

Don't know what the problem is. The swear filter is not a big deal and I doubt that you are swearing all day and everywhere you want.
