Rage. Pure rage. The two file servers are currently down due to an utterly avoidable situation at my file server provider.

The down time will last at least 24 hours as all the files have been whiped and need to be synched back to the file servers from the UK servers; something that is prolonged by the slow transfer of the files across the Atlantic.

As the premium file server is now in the UK it is unaffected, but small files are still served in the US where the servers are down so even premium members will not have access to files less than 2MB in size. Apologies for that.

There is no issue with uploading files to the server at this time, and your file will be available for download as soon as the file servers come back up.

The issue:

  1. I notice the file servers are running out of hard drive space
  2. I request that an additional 500GB hard drive be placed in each server
  3. I'm told it would be cheaper and easier to buy new servers and move all the old data over
  4. I accept and the new servers are loaded up (takes a day)
  5. I find out the new servers have 2x250 GB drives that been partitioned/non-RAID in such a way that there is actually less hard-drive space than before on the servers
  6. I request they do something about it
  7. They say they'll replace the drives with 500GB drives
  8. I accept
  9. They proceed to replace the harddrives on the ORIGINAL servers rather than the new servers, thus whiping all my data
  10. I rage

Don't think I would be staying with that provider after a slap-dash job and bad customer service like that. Anyway, good luck with it and if you end up whacking the person who is responsible give'm one from me, mate!

Regards,
James.

Ah so that's what the deal is. Gosh, that sucks. How frustrating for you. But, at least its recoverable? It's a bright side

Just subscribe to premium people. It's cheap! Like 3 euros for a month.
Also I found a way to download small files from premium server, but not sure if darkone want me to post that.
