Really urgent iPod help.

I jailbroke my 16GB iPod touch 2G 2.2.1, and yes I wasn't expecting it to be problem free, but I didn't expect something this bad. So anyways, I jailbroke my iPod and it worked fine for a few weeks until cydia disappeared so I couldn't add or delete anything. So I restored my iPod because other apps were getting messed up. So I figured if I restored it I could just jailbreak it again or leave it alone. That's when I noticed that the memory capacity decreased to like 14 GB. How can I delete the stuff that's stuck on there? Anyone had this problem?

as for the 2gb, been using SSH? u might want to consider stuff you tranfered into the system folders
Vir/media/
etc.
factory reset should do the trick.
p.s @ hammond, im not going to lay false claim that i know, without doubt jailbreaking is 100% safe, but seriously if only you knew how many times ive messed up and it still works
JMeister, il check back 2mo, if u still cnt fix it maybe i can talk you through some of it via msn or something.

You also void your warranty the second you jailbreak it. Well, Apple won't know unless you try to have them fix it while it was jail broken. If it was working, you could restore it and I doubt they would ever know it was jail broken but the need to take it in under warranty and not being able to restore is a risk you would have to be willing to take. If its out of warranty, no big deal there.
Using utilities such as ZiPhone can also brick it due to being an unstable application that does things it shouldn't.
There are also issues about upgrading firmware that you need to be careful or it could cause your iPod/iPhone to turn into an expensive paperweight.
I've also read somewhere about the need to turn off an apple auto-updater to keep it from being bricked that way too.
FYI - Take everything I say with a grain of salt since I have not tried jailbreaking anything I own.

But I did restore it because Cydia disappeared
So then I realized that the memory was gone and rejailbroke it. Then cydia just decided to break again!
So here I am now haha. I upgraded it to 3.0 manually.
Oh, and I did use SSH and stuff but all my poo went haywire so things would just close immediately.
I think that I can use the command line thing to fix it, since I read somewhere to fix broken Cydia, you have to use a code to delete it then restore it or something. I don't know, weird stuff. I figured I'd get some people who were good with computers and maybe iPods here.
Thanks for responding guys.

I understand jailbreaking iPhone, but iPod? What's the purpose?
I own an iPod nano and I don't understand what restriction you are trying to bypass.
Thanks in advance for the explanation.
I'm jailbreaking my ipod touch.
Hahah jailbreaking the ill iPod nano. Got the fresh custom font color and custom text box. That's about all you could do.
