I normally go to one big LAN party a year. It's an excuse to just kick back and do some seriously long, geeky gaming sessions with folks all across the UK.
i36 is a part of Multiplay's iSeries in the UK. They hold 3 events a year where up to 2,000 folks bring their PC's to a large agricultural centre near Coventry in the UK to play games and attempt to socialise from Friday to Monday.
For me the LAN events are an oppurtunity to meet face to face with the folks I play online games with across the country. I know their voices and their game personas, but it's good to meet up face to face, have a few drinks together and get to know them all properly. I'm an avid Eve Online player and I've been able to meet up with 22 of my fellow corpies that I fly (or spin ships in Stations) with every day.
Lots of folks are here for "serious" pro-gaming; entering tournaments with £1,000 - £10,000 prizes with their clans, but for most it's just an oppurtunity to escape reality for a few days and catch up with the folks they play with over the internet. If anyone is here at i36 I'd love to hear from you.
