The price of tritanium at Jita was 3.4 ISK/unit a year ago. In August 2008 it fell to 2.5 and now its peaked to 4.2 (4.27 today). What's going on? What likely long term impact?

Very interesting. I would really like to know what's causing this.

However it's probably in ups and downs. When it's low, people start mining other minerals, so the price gets up again... and maybe they still think it's low.

Could be lots of things.

Interesting thought.

If there had been a recent rise in price I may have suggested that many miners are out searching for wormholes. The belts have been strangely vacant recently (I have heard this).

Large amounts of tritanium are necessary to manufacture nearly everything, thus even minor variations in price are likely to have some form of long term impact.

Possible long term hoarding of trit or increased numbers of people buying trit in light of the T3 announcement and the introduction of the Orca.

This is very interesting - I was under the impression that it rose because of CCP removing NPC sell orders for shuttles (which, as they could be bought in bulk and reprocessed, then sold at a profit, capped the price at something like 3.3isk/unit or so - I forget the exact number, but that kinda region.

I know the shuttle change was made while I was afk from Eve, so I'd guess that was around August - maybe actually because of the falling prices? That still leaves the question of why they fell so far to begin with...

Who knows? Similarly, no idea why it's risen even further than the old price - like Dark0ne said, it could well be to do with the release of the Orca, and more recently, T3 (although I think that was a bit too recent to be the main cause).

I'm with Terminator here. Trit prices jumped after the removal of the NPC Shuttle sales, they did act as a sort of bottom line for the mineral, but I don't know exactly what it was. I'd noticed it climbed quite a bit in the months following that. As for long term impact I don't know if it will be too bad.

I can't speak for the rest of 0.0, but out in Syndicate you can get Veldspar for prices ranging from 2.0/unit to 3.5/unit so if you either have the means to move large amounts of tritanium from 0.0 to empire (or ships, etc) and are have access to the space where it's selling (Or are pretty brave) you can get Tritanium for cheap. So I think the biggest impact might be on industrialists who are stuck solely using the highsec markets, and the impact it has on their profits.

I know a number of industrialists who totally rely on Jita for their minerals. Can't be bothered/don't have the time to buy smaller amounts in different places and cart it around, and certainly would never consider mining, as with the amounts that they use, mining would take forever.

I know that the minerals market in Lonetrek more or less follows Jita- though I have noticed lower prices in regions further away, but have little experience of buying there.

I notice a number of interesting buy orders in low sec (in Lonetrek), and it could actually be fun transporting there, or for that matter transporting from Syndicate to Empire. Probably need a jump freighter...

I don't doubt that a lot of people buy their minerals in Jita, infact you can get pretty much every mineral you want there in just about any quantity. That has it's bonuses for hardcore industrialists!

I was just looking at the year long price history for a few t1 battleships (Raven, Dominix, Rokh) And they actually, for the most part, seem cheaper then they were a year ago (But still more expensive then they were august timeframe) Which I find a little curious considering Trit prices. I wonder if maybe other mineral prices have dropped enough to make up for it, or if people are just selling them for a slimmer profit.

As for moving stuff out of Syndicate, there's deffinately profit to be made, and you'd want for sure a capital ship of some sort (Rorq, carrier, jump freighter) To make it doable, and there's a huge risk factor, as Syndicate is probably one of the least friendly places to visit. I'd almost say 99% of lowsec is friendlier then syndicate is! But with a little bit of recon and a bit of intelligence it's possible, and I'm sure you could make decent isk out of it if you wanted!

I'd be a bit curious actually just how many minerals make their way to Jita from 0.0

What is the year-long price history for apocs and megas, carriers and dreads like? During the MAX campaign, and now the southern campaign, vast numbers of fleet ships and caps were/are being destroyed and have to be replaced in a hurry.

As for minerals from 0.0 to Jita - it makes little sense to transport trit from 0.0 to empire, but high end mins (zydrine, megacyte) are a different story.

I will definitely try something stupid like transporting tritanium out of 0.0 (ideally Syndicate), just for the fun of it. Many adrenaline filled hours of fun. Will take a long time to get all the skills, so this is some time in the future.

I was even thinking of selling tritanium at pretty high prices (4.6) in low sec in Lonetrek using my freighter, with a help of a scout or two. Thankfully this thought did not persevere.

Have been buying all the tritanium I can find at prices up to 4.05 in a 4 jump radius around Kakakela for the last few weeks, and tritanium under this price is getting scarce.

About ship prices, I nearly bought a Raven Navy Issue at 261 million, but somehow didn't :( And a week later their price is up by 100 million!

Am thinking of posting this in eve forums.
