@Asdasdawd: The UOMP patch for Thieves' Den/Dunbarrow (DLCThievesDen - Unofficial Patch.esp) fixes both of those.

@Cheezybeast: Thanks! smile.gif
@JuggerD: No idea why the UOP would preclude using such a thing as it does not change any of the installed Bethesda files (the EXE, BSA's, shaders, etc.) only adds new files and changes the INI which is changed every time you launch and exit anyways. However I wouldn't recommend using a no-DVD as we don't know what changes are being made to the EXE (ie does it introduce instability? break a part of the game? have a hidden trojan?) Plus I don't know what the policy is here but it's an instaban on the official forums to even mention you have one. There's really no need for them as the DVD is just read once in a low-speed mode on launch for a second or so and if you don't reboot it doesn't get read at all after that as the data comes out of the drive's cache.

@THE_GAME_EDITOR: Thank you! smile.gif Just to see if you can get the official patch installed as well (it's still important) some causes of getting that "Old file not found"
  • Already patched. Check your version in the bottom-left on launch. If it's 1.2.0416 you're already up to date (GoTY is pre-patched.)
  • Wrong language version. If you bought Oblivion in the UK/Australia you need the UK/European/Australian patch; the standard English one is the U.S. one and will fail.
  • Anything that changes the default installed files, such as shader replacers in Data->Shaders

Hope this helps.

@J_E_D & Stavros_Sk: Thanks! smile.gif
@NickN: Thanks as well. smile.gif I've noted both of those. I didn't see that happen in some of the IC guard towers that I was in so if you could get the cell name (put sdt 0 then tdt in the console and it's the "PC Cell") that would be appreciated.

Currently retired but still logging anything found for whenever I return to working on the unofficial patches.

@Nemiro: As with others with this problem, try disabling download managers and your firewall. If that doesn't work, try PES which also has resuming downloads.

@DonSpure: You're welcome. smile.gif If you can get them installed they will work just fine as they are no different than a standard player-made mod.

You can buy the Knights CD or the Direct2Drive version of it. Both of their installers are compatible with Vista.

Caveat: Direct2Drive is known to replace Oblivion.exe with an encrypted one, which makes it incompatible with OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) if you happen to use that. I don't know if the Knights CD pack does this, but just in case, back up your (patched) 1.2.0416 Oblivion.exe and then rename theirs and put your original back if it does. I don't know if D2D replaces OblivionLauncher.exe as well, and if so if the restored EXE will work with the replaced launcher though. Probably best to back up both. Actually, probably best to get the physical CD! You can get used copies on Amazon and EBay cheaply if it isn't available at your local shop.

You won't get Battlehorn Castle from either one of these Knights CD/download options as it was released afterwards, however you'll save money as they are cheaper bundled than buying them separately.

The installers from OblivionDownloads.com (the only place to get Battlehorn Castle) for the separately purchased ones are definitely not compatible with any Vista or Win64 as noted. However (which explains the "if you can get them installed" above) there's a workaround. Read the "Solution 4: (Works in all configurations.)" section here . It's been confirmed to work perfectly on all the DLC's numerous times on all flavors of Windows that would otherwise be unable to install them.

So, you have many options, and if properly done, no drawbacks.

@Varus Torvyn: Thank you. smile.gif

@DonSpure: Are you absolutely certain that 1) You have not activated any of the UOMP patches whatsoever for official DLC's that you don't have? and 2) That the UOMP patches are loading after the DLC's that they patch?

I may as well also add 3) That you have not modified the official DLC's in any way since they were installed?

I've verified via hash checks that the one and only DLC that ever changed was Mehrunes' Razor, so I know that the UOMP patches are compatible with all of them.

Since you state that you are running "a freshly purchased GOTY edition" and the Knights patch works fine, I strongly suspect that it is the first reason, ie: you've installed and activated all of the UOMP patches, all of which except one will be for DLC's that you don't have, which is clearly indicated will cause problems. Contrary to rumors otherwise, GoTY only includes Knights of the Nine. None of the other DLC's are included in it; you have to buy them from OblivionDownloads separately or as part of the Knights of the Nine bundle CD or DirectToDrive download.

@Thegoony2g: I just tried this quest with the current release UOP/UOMP/USIP active and it worked fine. By "the correct char" I assume that's Volanaro. I did it the "standard" way of stealing Jeanne's book for him. Also did it the nonstandard way on my current char. of finding J'Skar with Detect Life and casting Dispel on him and that worked fine as well. Haven't made any changes to the quest that I remember; only change was fixing J'Skar having no voice later on in the questline. Haven't had anyone else report any problems with this either.

If you'd like to send me a save with the problem occurring, here's my e-mail. Please 7Zip/Zip/RAR it so I know it arrived as sent.

And yet another UOMP! R15 now. The only changes were re-optimized meshes; all the ESPs and other files remain exactly the same.

In case it wasn't noticed, yup, new USIP. Reoptimized most of the NIF meshes and also added a couple more bugfixes.

@CastaScribonia, Ashes2Flames, Carlos10, Cha88 & Abo2: Thank you. smile.gif

In case it wasn't noticed, yes, all the UOP files just got updated. The full installers now have the hotfixes built into them. And there's a full installer OMOD.
If you're getting it for the first time or have a version older than 3.0.0, just download the full 3.2.0 install (EXE, OMOD or 7-Zip.)
If you're upgrading from a previous v3.x.x install, just download the hotfix EXE or 7-Zip (there's no OMOD of that unfortunately so if you want the OMOD you'll have to get the full one.)

And if you have PlanetElderScrolls access, please download it from there! At least for a few days. The last time the full UOP's were released, it caused major problems for TESNexus due to the volume of downloads and the size. I don't want this to happen again.

@wierdcon: Thanks. smile.gif Open Cities borrows some of the UOP bugfixes where it would override them, but it doesn't fix any meshes that I know of, just moves them into the Tamriel worldspace.

@Scullyy: In OBMM, click Create. Click Add Archive and select the UOP 7-Zip. Click Add Script and add this script (I 7-Zipped it to ensure it arrives properly; extract it and paste it in.) Click Create OMOD, wait for the completion dialog, then Activate it.

You may want to uninstall the existing UOP beforehand so you don't have to wade through a thousand confirmation dialogs.

When I release 3.2.0 which should be in a few days I'm uploading a complete OMOD of the full 3.2.0 installer. If you'd like to wait until then, it should make it easier.

@Poison741: Thank you. smile.gif
@Rip_Saw: Thanks. smile.gif Thus is the dilemma of a mod that you're not supposed to know is there (other than the little key and the spell you get on first load.) Everything's just supposed to look and work properly (which is I guess what everyone expects in the first place from the stock game.) Thus 200K+ downloads yet only 339 ratings (that weren't removed for being bogus.) PES is an even worse ratio: 108K downloads and all of 80 ratings. At least most of the ratings are good ones!

@RuinedTail: You're welcome. smile.gif If you're having problems, disable NoScript, download managers and your firewall in that order (make sure to re-enable them of course after!) If that doesn't work and you can downloed from elsewhere I would contact D2D support. They're the one and only source for patches for their versions of titles so they'll have to ensure you get your patch. I'm sure that they could mail it to you as an attachment if all else fails... it's only just over one MB.

@RuinedTail: It's always been compatible with the Direct2Drive version, as have all of the Unofficial Patches, and all mods that don't use OBSE. As much as I like OBSE, the USIP and the other unofficial patches don't use it in order to remain as broadly compatible and easy to install as possible.

The D2D version definitely has the 1.2.0416 patch available for it. It's available from D2D's site.

@ginger000 & OctaviusVIII: Thank you. smile.gif

@Dyers Eve: No idea. There was a problem like that with the UOP many, many versions ago (caused by removing light sources from the Anvil chapel when KoTN was present) but it was quickly isolated and fixed and nothing like that since. If you just installed other mods as well, then you may have a missing master situation (ie installing an ESP/ESM pair mod without the ESM, or installing patches from the Unofficial Official Mods Patch for DLC's that you don't have.) Best thing to do is go to the official forums' Mods forum, start a thread and post your load order indicating the problem.
